Department Description

AB Equities manages over $150 billion in assets for a wide variety of institutional, high-net-worth, and retail clients. In addition to Value and Growth Equities, we offer a number of specialized portfolios, including thematic, low-volatility and quantitative strategies.

A common thread across nearly all portfolios is an emphasis on fundamental “bottom up” research. Analysts on the Value and Growth research teams source ideas for their respective portfolios across the globe. Both Value and Growth Equities employ quantitative analysts in order to characterize risks and to generate investment ideas.

We are seeking talented, highly motivated undergraduate students who have demonstrated significant academic achievement, intellectual curiosity and an interest in financial services. The emphasis of the program will be on providing the candidate with an opportunity to develop his/her skills in financial modeling, financial statement analysis, and data analysis, while acquiring hands-on experience with professional tools such as Bloomberg. The specific assignments can vary and will be determined in consultation with the Intern. Recent internship examples include: assessing global supply and demand for Liquid Natural Gas, forecasting growth and development of the microprocessor market in the next 5-10 years, understanding disintermediation of traditional banks in the lending space, analyzing and forecasting Chinese demand for oil and oil products.

Candidates should be top academic performers, be interested in the investment management industry and meet the following criteria:

  • May or June 2021 Bachelor’s degree candidates in business, finance, economics, math, computer science, engineering or liberal arts

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

  • Strong quantitative, analytical and communication skills

  • Detail-oriented, ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work independently while also being a strong team player

  • Some coursework in finance and economics is a plus

Job Requirements

  • Candidates must be available to work full-time from June through August.

  • It is not permissible to simultaneously take academic classes or hold other employment that will conflict with the internship schedule.

  • Selected candidates will need to successfully complete a thorough background check.
