The Estée Lauder Companies Online platform powers our Online Commerce, Innovation and Omnichannel initiatives for a portfolio of over 400 sites. We are looking for an empathetic engineering leader for our core Platform Engineering team.
This team is responsible for the technical foundation of all our platform’s products. They are hyper focused on improving the productivity of our Product Engineering teams by creating frameworks and tools for building cloud-native services and API’s that power all Online. This person will also partner closely with devops, cloudops and infrastructure teams to ensure our development pipelines are allowing our engineering teams to deliver continuous value.
This leader will be familiar working in a highly dynamic environment and capable of inspiring a team of developers by establishing absolute best practice across all technologies, using wider industry knowledge of emerging and proven technologies which can help the business meet its strategic goals.
The role is a senior position, reporting directly to the VP of Engineering.
Lead with empathy and strive to make our engineering teams as productive as possible across the entire development life cycle
Create a technical vision for frameworks, libraries, languages, self-service tools and developer-friendly products to support all engineering
Develop systems and an organization designed to ensure platform engineering teams are aligned to objectives that serve our internal customers
Foster talent through effective mentoring, coaching, succession planning, and retention strategies for key talent
Promote data-driven engineering by establishing mechanisms which record and improve technical debt, developer velocity, service levels, and other metrics
Influence and shape the DevOps roadmap to continually improve CI/CD tools, processes and procedures to improve developer efficiency while ensuring quality
Collaborate with InfoSec, compliance, performance and other functions as necessary to ensure that best practices are baked into our products
12 years’ technical experience and management experience, incorporating at least 5 years managing technical teams of > 20 people in distributed environments
Experience in developing a shared vision and ways of working that inspires teams to collaborate together
Framework design experience, with demonstrable success in large scale projects, ideally of an eCommerce nature
Thorough understanding of cloud technologies, microservices, cloud-native design patterns, DevOps principles and associated tooling
