The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.Position SummaryReporting to the Assistant Director of Faculty Affairs, the Faculty Affairs Representative supports all Faculty Affairs functions in the School of Professional Studies. The Faculty Affairs Representative is responsible for the hiring and onboarding process of new and returning faculty and liaising with internal and external constituents to resolve payroll related issues.Responsibilities- Serve as the first point of contact for new faculty- Contact new faculty to collect required information and paperwork (e.g. tax forms, personal information forms, etc.); assist new hires with paperwork process and general onboarding to Columbia University and SPS- Create and maintain all records, including employee files- Create appointment letters for faculty before the start of each term- Assist Program Directors within SPS to update and maintain annual Course Planning documents for Masters, non-degree, and Pre-college programs, and Columbia Summer- Determine teaching eligibility for all identified faculty, in accordance with CU policy; if additional permissions are required (i.e. when appointing an Officer of Admin/Research), obtain the appropriate approvals- Work with the finance team to process honorarium payments, payroll reconciliation, and additional compensation requests- Respond to faculty inquiries regarding paperwork, salary, Columbia UNI/email, and ID cards- Maintain discretion and professionalism while dealing with highly confidential information- Work with Provost's Office, HR, and A&S Academic Appointments to ensure compliance with University policy and employment laws for all academic appointments- Responsible for effectively communicating policy updates with faculty and administrators, anticipating problems, and suggesting potential solutions to ensure compliance- Track faculty metrics, faculty appointment information, and course planning information- Performs other duties as assigned or requestedMinimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree or the equivalent required- 0-2 years of related experience required- A resume and cover letter with salary requirements must be submitted to be considered for the positionAdditional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications Required:- Must have a strong service-oriented attitude and excellent interpersonal skills- Must be well organized, and have exceptional written and oral communication skills- Familiarity with computer accounting systems and PC-based software packages is essential.- Strong knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Visio), required.Equal Opportunity Employer / Disability / Veteran Columbia University is committed to the hiring of qualified local residents.
