Head of Payments, US Retail Bank

The Role

The US payments landscapes continue to evolve rapidly as customer behaviors and preferences shift towards digital methods and channels. As Citi’s US Head of Payments , you will report directly to the US Retail Head of Segments and Products and spearhead developing the overall payments strategies for Consumer and Small Business clients, define the vision, and build out an innovative suite of product offerings that evolve to meet the rapidly changing environment. You will deliver simple, unified, and inspiring digital-first capabilities that fulfill the spectrum of customer’s payments needs.

We're looking for a visionary leader who has experience creating, communicating, and executing an exciting and unifying vision. This senior executive must be able to develop and lead a team of product managers while fostering strong, collaborative relationships with senior business leaders across the firm .

What You’ll Do

  • Define and execute the evolution of payments product strategy

  • Set the product vision, translate the vision into detailed product roadmaps, and lead the cross functional delivery through the entire product lifecycle for both Retail and Small Business Banking

  • Develop, own, communicate and accelerate the product roadmap for payment and money movement capabilities, including peer-to-peer payments/Zelle, wires, RTP, Remittances, ACH, Debit, and digital wallet solutions

  • Lead a high performing team of product managers that own the day-to-day development of customer journeys. Leverage ongoing journey analytics and research to define a roadmap of enhancements that drive both higher adoption and satisfaction of the payments products.

  • Drive market analysis and prioritize customer requirements; work with stakeholders, research teams, digital teams, and the development teams to define the market opportunity and business plan in support of company goals

  • Lead the engagement with regulators on matters impacting Payments for Consumer bank.

  • Responsible for all in-business-control activities for payments and internal audits.

  • Maintain a close partnership and high level of synergy with technology, operations, digital and analytics

  • Continuously focus on building and developing product talent that has the business acumen and technical capability to deliver world class products in a connected, mobile environment

  • Possess the confidence and poise to influence the executive leadership team and various external stakeholders

Key Qualifications and Position Requirements:

  • 15+ years of experience in financial services or Fintech leading strategy, execution and external /industry engagement, including managerial experience directly managing high-performing product teams with demonstrable and measurable results

  • Seasoned, passionate, and mission-driven digital product professional with a demonstrated ability to develop a vision, drive and manage the execution of that vision, and deliver top-tier results

  • Demonstrated sound business judgment, analytical acumen, consumer-centric mindset and communication skills

  • Clear reputation for motivating product management and development teams to deliver unique and differentiating solutions to complex business problems

  • Multiple experiences defining product roadmaps, building collaboratively with design, engineering and product research, and shipping at scale

  • A customer advocate with a strong focus on customer needs and behaviors as the driving force behind designing new products and experiences

  • Deep consumer product knowledge and passion around emerging technologies and how they will change consumer experiences

  • Deep technical knowledge, with the ability to break down the work involved in solving them, and the impact of those decisions on engineering

  • Proven ability to influence decision-making at all levels within an organization and influence non-directs through data and a vision in a variety of contexts

  • Compelling storyteller with experience communicating strategies and ideas to engineers and designers alike

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an expertise of articulating strategy and actions to key decision makers and stakeholders across the organization.

  • Ability to forge strong relationships with both external and internal partners to ensure delivery of business goals.

  • Ability to manage a high performing team, create opportunities for high performer leaders while providing coaching to team members in key development areas.
