The Summer Principals Academy (SPA) program in New Orleans within Programs in Education Leadership of the Department of Organization & Leadership seeks a Temporary Instructional Technology Specialist--with the possibility of going permanent--to support technology and program-related issues. This position will focus very heavily on technology so the incumbent needs to be highly skilled in this area. This position reports directly to the Director of SPA NOLA. SPA has an intensive five-week program each year in June that requires all employees to work extended hours during the week and on some weekends. This summer program is held at Tulane University. Throughout the intervening year, the Instructional technology specialist will work from the operations office in Downtown New Orleans. Additionally, as SPA is a client-focused organization catering to the varied needs of its students, the position requires that the administrative assistant/instructional technology specialist be available for some weekend hours throughout the intervening year when special events are held. The employee will receive compensated time for these hours.

Responsibilities:

Instructional Technology (50%)

  • Design and manage all aspects of Digital Learning Platforms (Google Classroom, Articulate, etc.)

  • Develop interactive, experiential learning experiences for use across SPA NOLA

  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and alumni to author simulated case studies for SPA NOLA courses

  • Develop materials and train faculty, staff, and instructional assistants on current instructional technologies used in SPA NOLA

  • Work with current students and/or alumni serving as interns to enhance SPA NOLA instructional technologies, digital learning platforms, and technology skills acquired by SPA NOLA graduates

Technology (25%)

  • Web design and updates.

  • Regular creation of e-Newsletters.

  • Resolution of technology-related issues.

  • Manage and update student, faculty, coach, and staff bios and photos.

  • Rubrics documentation and Internet surveys for accreditation.

  • Network with alumni.

  • Portfolio design and maintenance for LA Certification and accreditation.

  • Coordinate the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of departmental TV, computers, laptops, printers, web cameras, smart boards and other electronic equipment.

  • Video documentation of events.

  • Maintain the database of contact information, qualification, certifications, resumes, bios and pictures for students, faculty and internship coaches.

  • Update and maintain the social networking sites related to SPA NOLA.

Special Projects (25%)

  • Conduct regular surveys (data collection, analysis, and design) of students, faculty, and alumni to improve program and support accreditation documentation.

  • Create brochures, postcards, posters and presentations for programs and events.

  • Create high-quality, professional videos documenting SPA NOLA programming for promotional and documentation purposes.

  • Design and present technology training sessions for students, faculty and internship administrators.

  • Other special projects as assigned by the Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Professional experience working with instructional technologies, Apps for Education, Content Management Systems, Word processing and excel applications, and movie editing applications.

  • Case writing experience

  • Ability to exercise professional judgment, work independently, show initiative, communicate effectively and demonstrate excellent organizational skills

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills;

  • Experience with project management and administration;

  • Ability to work in MAC, Chrome OS, and PC environments;

  • Must be able to abide by the Student Privacy Requirements/FERPA;

  • Ability to manage complex relationships across multiple stakeholders;

  • Research experience (designing surveys, data collection, and data analysis)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree;

  • Prior work experience in college/university setting;

  • Experience working with K-12 educators and administrators

  • Experience with design, creation, and use of simulations for leadership and learning experiences

  • Google Apps for Education, WordPress, Microsoft Applications
