Persistent Systems LLC Intern - Hardware Engineer in New York, New York

Headquartered in New York City since 2007, Persistent Systems, LLC is a global communications technology company which develops, manufactures, and integrates a patented and secure Mobile Ad Hoc Networking (MANET) system: Wave Relay. The companys industry leading R& D team has designed wireless networking protocols to support their cutting-edge Wave Relay system and technology. Wave Relay is capable of running data, video, voice and other applications under the most difficult and unpredictable conditions. Their suite of products is field proven and utilized in Commercial, Military, Government, Industrial, Agriculture, Robotics, and Unmanned System markets.


We are looking for an Intern who is interested in Hardware design to join our Engineering team for a 2021 summer internship. The Hardware Internship will focus on research and development of new products, leading improvements existing products and overall systems solutions. The Hardware Engineer Intern will help in developing Wave Relay Product solutions with our DOD customers. The Hardware Engineer Intern will help to identify customer needs through the systems teams face to face interaction with customers and play a critical role in developing the product solution. The Hardware Engineer Intern will operate out of our New York City headquarters and manage projects involving a variety offunctions with both on-site and remote teams.

Position Responsibilities

  • Managing, deriving, and capturingProduct/Program requirements including mechanical and electrical interface design specifications, component requirements, and functional block diagrams
  • Supporting software and hardware testing
  • Supporting and facilitating engineering projects including new product/solution development, product changes, and customer integration
  • Supporting the change management process to ensure all required actions have been completed and that communication to key stakeholders is maintained
  • Ensuring quality documentation is updated/created as required, including technical manuals
  • Providing support and delivering solutions for rapid development projects
  • Modifying and updating requirements documents
  • Coordinating preparation of design drawings including updates
  • Supporting and facilitating project scheduling


Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a Bachelors degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field and have completed at least two years of the program
  • Successfully completed at least one course in engineering design
  • Successfully completed at least one course in RF theory
  • Must have a United States security clearance or the ability to obtain a United States security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior Internship experience with Product Development
  • Prior Internship experience with systems development, evaluation and requirements capture
  • Prior Internship experience with Systems engineering and networking experience
  • Knowledge of audio/video encoder/decoders and interfaces
