Duties Description This internship is in NYSIF’s Investment Department, which oversees approximately $20 billion across multiple asset classes. This summer, the team is seeking high-performing and highly motivated candidates to join various teams within the department. The internship will give insight into NYSIF's Investment activities, including the implementation of several exciting strategies across the portfolio, specifically in the Alternatives, Sustainable Investing, Corporate Fixed Income, and Portfolio Management teams.#li-dni

Minimum Qualifications • Enrolled full-time in a college, university, or graduate program in New York State and have completed a minimum of one (1) year of studies or a be a New York State Permanent resident enrolled in a college, university, or graduate program, 1. Corporate Fixed Income Teamo Applicants should have a strong foundation in company analysis, corporate finance, and economics, with the ability to interpret financial data and evaluate investment-grade securities. 2. Portfolio Management Teamo Proficiency in coding and programming languages such as Python, R, VBA, or similar tools for financial modeling and data analysis.o Interest in Financial Markets: Strong enthusiasm for understanding and analyzing market trends, portfolio strategies, and investment dynamics.3. Alternatives Teamo Specializes in private equity, private debt, and real assets investments.o Interns will assist in market research, fund manager due diligence, portfolio monitoring as well as ad hoc project(s). Familiarity with financial statement analysis and high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred.4. Sustainable Investing Teamo Interns will evaluate ESG risks, analyze sustainable investment opportunities, and support the development of climate-related frameworks.o Interns should have strong writing and quantitative skills, with familiarity in statistical data analysis to evaluate ESG risks, identify sustainable investment opportunities, and support climate-focused strategies and frameworks.Preferred Qualifications/Skills:• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis)• Working knowledge of PowerPoint for report creation and visual presentations• Strong writing skills• Solid foundation in Finance, Economics, Sustainability• Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.3, or the letter grade equivalent• Able to work full-time Summer (up to 37.5 hours per week)
