Kitchen Supervisor – Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum

Legends is the official hospitality partner for the food service areas at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, a premier tourism destination in the heart of New York City. The partnership includes full quick service restaurant, an outdoor seasonal kiosk serving beverage and snacks and a lighter fare concept aboard the ship serving sandwiches and flat breads along with grab and go items. With the opportunity of serving up to 10,000 guests 363 days a year, Legends has created a culture of fast and friendly service at the Intrepid


The Supervisor position is responsible for supporting all Food and Beverage Operations.


  • Responsible for overseeing and executing the daily culinary operations in the Food and Beverage outlets at the Intrepid Museum

  • Ensure set up and preparation of all food items for concession and catering operations

  • Oversee and check opening and closing duties of the kitchen staff

  • Replenish and restock all food items and food related items as needed and directed by manager

  • Maintain a high level of sanitation awareness and conscientiousness

  • Assist manager with monthly inventory

  • Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of all kitchen equipment and reporting any operating issues

  • Update and record temperature logs daily

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all walk in and reach in refrigerator and freezers in compliance with local health code

  • Always conduct self in a professional, safe, and efficient manner.

  • Production of menu items in a timely manner and in accordance with the venue’s standards

  • Ability to follow directions precisely and consistently; maintenance of work area and proper food storage; opening and closing duties

  • Track and maintain par levels of food items daily to ensure inventory remains stocked

  • Adheres to company guidelines and house rules, always exceeds guest expectations.

  • Ability to expedite food in a fast paced environment

  • Lead and work to maintain the facility and all equipment to the highest standards ensuring Safety and Cleanliness

  • Work as a team with fellow associates in the both the FOH and the BOH.

  • Ensure daily checklists are followed and completed by warehouse and kitchen associates

  • Maintain and control high volume food and beverage inventory

  • Ability to identify product needs for upcoming events and restaurant volume

  • Assist other supervisors in other related tasks and responsibilities as necessary

  • Assist in directing hourly associates while having direct interaction with guests

  • Maintain and control high-volume food, beverage, and merchandise inventory

  • Conduct a physical audit of inventory and product.

  • Complete other duties as assigned by managers


  • Ideal candidate will be ServSafe Certified

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • The ideal candidate will have a culinary degree or have graduated from a certified apprenticeship program with a minimum of 2-3 years of cooking experience in the an ala carte restaurant, a contract foodservice industry, preferably in premium services, catering, or concessions environments

  • One year kitchen experience in a lead or supervisory role

  • Pizza preparation experience a plus

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-oriented environment

  • Strong commitment to delivering a high level of customer and client service with demonstrated initiative and leadership

  • Customer service oriented with the ability to interact with all levels of management

  • Must be flexible to work weekends, nights and holidays

  • Must be able to work in a team environment

  • High level of organization and attention to detail

  • Must be able to remain calm under stressful situations

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to make evaluations and decisions without immediate supervision

  • Must be able to accept and carry out responsibility for directions

  • Practice safe work habits, follow all safety policies and procedures and regulations, complete company-wide safety training and additional job specific safety training

  • Must have or obtain NYC Food Protection Certificate
