Education (YI) - 052 Position Summary
The American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) in New York City is one of the premier science, research and cultural institutions in the country. The American Museum of Natural History is seeking a Lang Science Program Teaching Assistant (TA) to assist with programming during both the summer and academic year.
The Lang Science Program is an intensive extracurricular 7-year middle/high school program for students interested in the sciences. The program seeks to hire a teaching assistant (TA) to assist with the setup and implementation of the summer program. TA is expected to work a setup week, 3 weeks of camp, and a set-down week - in total, July 9-August 9, 2019. During setup week, the TA will help maintain and manage supplies, make copies, set up classrooms, and assist with other work as needed. During the 3 weeks of the summer program, the TA will assist with daily setup and breakdown of classrooms, paperwork, chaperoning students inside and outside the Museum, and assist with other work as necessary to keep classes running smoothly. During set-down week, the TA will help finalize paperwork, clean and return materials, and other tasks involved with finishing the summer and starting the academic year portion of the Lang program.
If available during the academic year, the TA will be expected to work all Saturday dates. Additional work will be available on Fridays to set up, and at other times as available (for recruitment, event setup, and other tasks). Required Qualifications
Applicants should be:
1) a graduate of the AMNH Lang Science Program
2) enrolled full-time in college for the 2019-20 school year Preferred Qualifications
1) enrolled in college in or near NYC and available during the school year Saturdays.
2) experience working with students
3) majoring in Education Physical Demands
