Legends is the official hospitality partner for the food service areas at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, a premier tourism destination in the heart of New York City. The partnership includes a grab and go concept with a variety of fresh food offerings and a full quick service restaurant. With the opportunity of serving up to 10,000 guests 363 days a year, Legends has created a culture of fast and friendly service at the Intrepid.


Under direction of the General Manager, this individual will be responsible for effectively supporting all culinary operations.


  • Must maintain a friendly, positive attitude and a professional demeanor at all times

  • Directs, implements, and maintains a guest service and management philosophy that serves as a guide to respective team members

  • Meets with the General Manager to review assignments, anticipated business levels, changes, and other information pertinent to job performance

  • Ensures that only the highest-of-quality product is served to our guests

  • Strong cooking and line cooking skills and advanced cooking techniques

  • Maintains and abides by County Health/Sanitation as well as Legends Hospitality standards

  • Provide efficient service and quality products by maintaining positive customer and client relations through effective communication and prudent financial practices

  • Ensures that all equipment is in proper operational condition and is cleaned on a regular basis

  • Shows flexibility by rotating to other service locations when necessary

  • Performs other related duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned by management


  • Ideal candidate will be ServSafe Certified

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • The ideal candidate will have a culinary degree or have graduated from a certified apprenticeship program with a minimum of 2-3 years of cooking experience in the contract foodservice industry, preferably in premium services, catering, and concessions environments for a sports and/or entertainment venue

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-oriented environment

  • Strong commitment to delivering a high level of customer and client service with demonstrated initiative and leadership

  • Customer service oriented with the ability to interact with all levels of management

  • Must be flexible to work extended hours due to business requirements including late nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Must be able to work in a team environment

  • High level of organization and attention to detail

  • Must be able to remain calm under stressful situations

  • Must be able to smile, maintain positive body language, and consistently provide positive guest service

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to make evaluations and decisions without immediate supervision

  • Must be able to accept and carry out responsibility for directions

  • Ability to work all major events, including: extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Practice safe work habits, follow all safety policies and procedures and regulations, complete company-wide safety training and additional job specific safety training
