INTREPID SEA, AIR & SPACE MUSEUM

Legends is the official hospitality partner for the food service areas at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, a premier tourism destination in the heart of New York City. The partnership includes a grab and go concept with a variety of fresh food offerings and a full quick service restaurant. With the opportunity of serving up to 10,000 guests 363 days a year, Legends has created a culture of fast and friendly service at the Intrepid.

THE ROLE

The Line Cook position is responsible for the preparation and cooking of the menu within a given stand/kiosk for Legends Hospitality at the Intrepid: Sea, Air & Space Museum.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Set up allocated stations for menu, as instructed by Kitchen Supervisor

  • Inventory product and prepare it according to management and health guidelines

  • Responsible for cleaning the equipment and cooking area

  • Maintain a prepared and sanitary work area at all times

  • Make sure all storage areas are tidy and all products are stored appropriately

  • Requires cooking experience and willingness to learn

  • Follows assignments for opening and closing procedures and food preparation

  • Prepare food items by complying with portion size, quality standards, departmental rules, policies and procedures

  • Responsible for safety standards, neatness and sanitation of work areas

  • Ensures that proper food temperatures are maintained

  • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance

  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen including shelves, walls, floors and drains

  • Participates as a team player with specific responsibilities as related to preparation, excellent service and delivery of product

  • Maintain proper sanitation for all dining and cooking utensils and cookware

  • Handles and cleans kitchen equipment carefully and safely to prevent damage or injury

  • Perform other assignments as required

  • Maintain consistency in attitude and behavior

  • Works to make a specific impression on our guests

  • Approaches all tasks with a “can-do” attitude

  • Presents a cheerful, positive manner

  • Shows initiative and takes action with an appropriate level of independence

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty above at the highest levels. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs

  • Ability to walk, reach, stand, bend for long periods of time

  • Able to operate kitchen equipment in a safe manner

  • Able to work flexible hours (evenings, weekends, holidays)

  • Able to work under pressure

  • Effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills

  • Team Player

  • NYC Food Safety Certification a plus

  • Practice safe work habits, follow all safety policies and procedures and regulations; complete Company-wide safety training and additional job specific safety training

COMPENSATION

$19.00/Hourly

Location: On Site. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands to finger, and handle controls. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand, walk, and stoop. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
