Job Information Manager, Digital Marketing in New York, New York


Reports to: Director of Marketing

Target Start Date: November 1, 2021

Location: has its headquarters in NYC. As a result of COVID-19, DoSomething staff are working fully remote. DoSomething is exploring a hybrid return to office approach with a target of winter 2021. Preferably, candidates will be based in the New York City Metro area, but candidates in other locations within the U.S. will be considered.

Our social impact programming has mobilized millions of members to clothe half of America’s youth in homeless shelters, clean up 3.7 million cigarette butts from the streets, run the largest youth-led sports equipment drive, and register over 250,000 voters ( during the 2020 presidential election, 71% of whom actually voted!

DoSomething is seeking a strategic and analytical thinking, results-oriented Manager, Digital Marketing to play a key role in galvanizing’s millions of youth members to take action on innovative and impactful programming and campaigns that activate youth for sustainable and scalable social impact.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Manager, Digital Marketing contributes to the mission and vision of DoSomething by managing the day-to-day digital marketing, paid media & SEO activities including the strategy, planning, implementation, optimization, and reporting plans. You will work cross-functionally within the marketing team to advance our mission to make scalable and impactful change in their communities.


Digital Strategy and Execution (40%)

  • Define and execute digital marketing tactics and strategies across our owned platforms, including website, SMS, email, and social, which will assist with sustainably scaling our acquisition, engagement and growth efforts and brand positioning alignment.

  • Oversee paid digital advertising campaigns, and work with Marketing Associate, Paid Media to develop and execute paid digital advertising campaigns (paid social, paid search, etc), owning the end-to-end process from strategy to execution to optimization and results.

  • Drive SEO strategy to grow organic search traffic that aligns to the goals and priorities, execute against SEO roadmap and track performance. Guide paid media.

  • Work cross-functionally to use email and SMS to effectively increase youth participation in campaign and programs.

  • Serve as organization’s subject matter expert for digital marketing best practices, internal processes and systems related to digital marketing.

    Content (20%)

  • Oversee the development of digital marketing assets (online ads, emails, web pages, graphics, ad images, etc.) for internal and external email lists, blogs, affiliates, paid search, and organic and paid social media marketing.

  • Ensure delivery of compelling content that delights and engages audiences, while enabling achievement of key acquisition goals. Guide the development of paid content.

  • Own consumer messaging across all channels and devices, for the full member lifecycle.

  • Design, develop, test, and optimize key messaging channels (email and SMS) and engagement streams to drive success across platforms (web, iOS, Android)

    Reporting (20%)

  • Oversee always-on testing process, and work with Marketing Associate, Lifecycle to design and execute one that establishes a test roadmap, hypotheses, and actionable insights that lead to campaign optimization and iteration.

  • Work with Marketing Associate, Lifecycle to compile weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to turn performance marketing data into actionable insights to our various marketing goals (conversion, awareness, etc.), as well as strategic recommendations for future execution. Ensure findings are shared cross functionally with the proper partner.

    Team Management (10%) Supervise and mentor members of the Marketing team to ensure team members are clear on organizational goals and how their work directly contributes to those goals.

  • Manage and mentor Marketing Associate, Lifecycle and Marketing Associate, Paid Media, set and achieve objectives, KPIs and performance development goals consistent with the strategic plan and linked to performance outcomes.

  • Provide comprehensive professional development, direction and team building to cultivate a team that reflects the communities we serve and seek to serve; and advocate for continuous growth and development of reports.

    Vendor Management (10%)

  • Manage day-to-day communications of current digital media agencies and third-party vendors, while providing recommendations for future ones.



  • You have 4-6+ years of experience in a similar role in digital marketing working on website strategy and management and digital campaigns.

  • You have 2+ years of experience successfully managing people and teams to successfully deliver on team and organizational goals and objectives.

  • You have solid experience managing paid digital campaigns including search, display, paid social, etc. Prefer hands-on experience building AdWords campaigns and paid Facebook/IG and YouTube.

  • You have deep knowledge of A/B testing strategies and test planning and proven experience developing segmentation and targeting strategies to test and learn how best to communicate with audiences.

  • You have a strong technical understanding of content management and messaging systems (e.g. preferred direct experience with, Front, Twilio, Contentful CMS) and interest in learning tools that were built in-house.

  • You have experience with analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics) and business intelligence tools (e.g. Looker)

  • You have experience in building and nurturing strategic partnerships with technology partners to set website and messaging technology strategy to create unique customer journeys .

  • Preferably, you’ve worked for a social impact organization , in an agency setting or as part of a larger marketing or brand strategy team.

  • You have strong communication skills and the ability to distill and adapt messaging, style, and tone with concision to accommodate a diverse range of audiences both internally and externally and to persuade others to gain their support.

  • You are a people manager with a proven track record of successfully building, retaining and developing diverse teams. A discernible passion for developing and mentoring junior team members is a must.

  • You take a creative and innovative approach to developing solutions to organizational challenges, driving continuous improvement to programs and processes, and implementing effective and smooth product change initiatives across the organization via smart conventional and unconventional methods.

  • You believe in young people and are curious about the needs and wants of young people across the spectrum of identity and difference and believe that their involvement in civic engagement, democracy, human services, etc has the power to change young people, their communities and the world!
