Autism Speaks Manager, Nationwide Peer-to-Peer Programs, TeamUp (Remote) in New York, New York

Our National Peer to Peer team is looking for a Manager to lead their Autism Speaks TeamUp endurance fundraising efforts across the country while providing support, fundraising coaching, resources and training to build strong foundations for future growth for both our national endurance program as well as working with field on local 5k races. Candidate can be located anywhere in the U.S. but ideally will be in NYC or Chicago.

In this role, you will report to the Director, Nationwide Peer-to-Peer Programs. You will quickly learn that she leads from a place of empowerment, while focusing on team building, communication and authenticity. This entire team will help her build an overarching strategic growth plan for the peer-to-peer space within the organization.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES, FIELD LOCAL RACES:

  • Partner with the Director, Nationwide Peer-to-Peer Programs , and National Field Operations Director to successfully deliver tools and processes in support of TeamUp objectives and goals

  • Create reports that assess progress against program goals

  • Evaluate event success against goals and make recommendations for course corrections

  • Work collaboratively with the Communications and Marketing, social and digital teams to support and implement a cohesive and strategic marketing plan for TeamUp

  • Build relationships with regional and national vendors including event/production companies, media, etc. to help reduce overall costs associated with the Autism Speaks TeamUp program

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES, FIELD LOCAL RACES:

  • Support the Director, Nationwide Peer-to-Peer Programs , in creating and implementing a year-round strategic plan for TeamUp local races

  • Mentor field staff and volunteers on the implementation of best practices and standards

  • Assist the director to train field staff in recruiting, developing and managing volunteer event leadership

  • Work closely with the field leadership team to determine the TeamUp skills training needed

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES, MARATHON/BIB PROGRAM:

  • Collaborate with the Director, Peer-to-Peer Programs, in creating and executing a strategic plan for the TeamUp marathon/bib program nationwide

  • Work directly with fundraising participants and volunteers to cultivate relationships and deliver a positive program and event experience that meets and exceeds established revenue and participation goals through personal phone calls, emails, team newsletters and social media groups

  • Ensure robust tools are in place for recruiting, training and cultivating participants and teams to increase program revenue and participation goals

  • Implement and execute a plan to recruit, retain, and motivate fundraising participants (individual participants, team captains and team members) to increase program revenue

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    Education : Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

    Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of fundraising experience with proven track record; strong background in peer to peer endurance fundraising programs

  • Minimum 5 years volunteer management experience

  • Knowledgeable of fundraising systems (both traditional and new)

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written), as well as strong platform/presentation skills

  • Ability to assess current level of performance and diagnostic steps needed to increase performance

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Good decision-making and problem-solving skills

  • Critical thinking skills to identify issues, concerns and problems and develop solutions which can be implemented

  • Proficiency with Office 365 (intermediate level)

  • Database skillset (Luminate preferred)

  • Demonstrated leadership skills

  • Staff development and management skills

  • Demonstrates a clearly articulated passion for mission

  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends

  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends, with ability to travel for events and meetings

  • Ability to diplomatically engage with a variety of personalities in a positive manner

  • Ability to motivate, inspire and delegate work to staff and volunteers

  • Ability to work independently with little daily supervision
