Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, LLP Manager of Professional Development – Transactional Groups in New York, New York

The Manager of Professional Development – Transactional Groups will be a key member of the Firm’s Professional Development team. Reporting to the Director of Training & Professional Development, the position will support training and coaching offerings for lawyers throughout Milbank’s U.S. offices, with a particular focus on its U.S. transactional groups. This position will also play a key role in collaborating with colleagues in the Firm’s global offices on training offerings. Bring your transactional PD experience to this highly visible role, in which you will collaborate closely with partners, associates, and other talent management professionals to create and manage market-leading learning experiences.

  • Working closely with PD Committee, practice group training partners, group talent managers, and global PD team, manage and innovate the Firm’s established Deals@Milbank associate training curricula, including interactive workshops.

  • Collaborate with these colleagues to manage, develop and innovate practice-area specific training for U.S. transactional practice groups.

  • In collaboration with the PD Director and staff, manage and innovate financial literacy training for lawyers across practice areas.

  • Form relationships, and hold regular check-ins, with global colleagues managing transactional training programs to find opportunities for cross-border collaboration.

  • In collaboration with the PD Director and staff, oversee production and evaluation of PD programming aspects of annual U.S. summer associate training program.

  • Assist PD Director in management of all aspects of leadership coaching programs. With the support of PD staff, assist in advising lawyers on CLE rules.

  • In collaboration with other PD Managers, present on PD offerings to groups of firm lawyers. Regularly present on areas of responsibility to firm’s Professional Development Committee.

  • Contribute to the creation and management of the PD budget and manage relationships with external training vendors.

  • Supervise and mentor junior PD staff.

  • Form and cultivate relationships in the legal PD community, and with the firm’s lawyers and staff, to keep abreast of training trends and needs.

  • Other responsibilities as they are assigned from time to time.

  • Bachelor’s degree required. J.D. a plus but not required.

  • Professional coaching training a major plus.

  • At least five years’ legal professional development experience, or a combination of legal PD and transactional law practice experience.

  • Familiarity with viLMS a plus.

  • Familiarity with the CLE rules a major plus.

  • Strong presentation skills, relationship-building skills, and a high level of diplomacy.

  • This position requires flexibility with respect to working hours.
