Pfizer Inc. Manager, Oncology Communications in New York, New York
The Manager reports to the Director, Oncology Communications within the Corporate Affairs function at Pfizer.
The Manager will be responsible for supporting global and US communications strategies for Pfizer Oncology’s Hematology products (BESPONSA, BOSULIF AND MYLOTARG), as well as the Immuno-Oncology portfolio. The Manager will work closely with Pfizer cross-functional colleagues to develop and implement external communications plans, including data and regulatory milestones, building media and social share of voice and disease awareness campaigns. The Manager will also support communications for BAVENCIO, which is part of the Pfizer -Merck KGaA alliance, including launch planning and execution for additional indications for the brand. The Manager will also help manage PR agencies to support these activities.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for supporting internal and leader communications for the Oncology BU, helping to define and shape the Pfizer Oncology culture and connecting colleagues to leaders and the BU’s strategic vision. He/she will work closely with the Head of Oncology Communications, as well as members of the Oncology Leadership Team, specifically the Head of HR and the Chief of Staff as well as the region communications teams, the Corporate Affairs lead, and other key functions across the Oncology business to deliver against top internal communications priorities as they drive the Oncology business forward. Key to this role is ensuring that communication channels evolve to reflect both the needs of the business and how its audiences prefer to be engaged about different topics. It also requires that training and counsel is given to lead appropriate communications cascade planning and execution.
Supports the development and execution of several communication plans for Hematology and Immuno-Oncology brands in close coordination with Pfizer cross-functional team and Alliance counterparts
Supports internal and leader communications for the Oncology working closely with Head of Communications, Head of Corporate Affairs, Head of HR and the Chief of Staff
Helps manage the day-to-day work of external agencies as it relates to internal/leader communications, as well as the development of key communications and initiatives for the Hematology and Immuno-Oncology portfolios
In conjunction with Media Relations, coordinates the roll-out of asset information and materials to country communicators across Pfizer enterprise
Supports extension of global reputation initiatives
Supports the development of core communications materials such as press releases, Q&A, statements, fact sheets and other written material
Works across the regions to share best practices
Lead product review committee process to ensure communications strategy and materials are compliant
Key contributor to Pfizer’s digital and social media platforms
Seasoned communications professional with five to seven years in the pharmaceutical industry with experience in global product communications, media relations or public relations preferable.
Bachelor's degree in communications or related field required.
Experience in Marketing and/or PR required.
Experience working in an Alliance setting a plus.
Experience in developing, managing and implementing communications and public relations plans.
Demonstrated track record of project management, organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent written, oral, communication skills and interpersonal skills.
Ability to develop, implement and measure success of PR and communications plans.
Ability to work effectively across functions and levels across highly matrixed organization and manage multiple projects against tight deadlines.
Ability to work closely with Pfizer leaders.
Self-starter, able to work independently as well as with teams.
