Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world's leading global law firms with more than 4,000 lawyers and staff in 31 offices, is looking for a highly motivated Manager of Strategy & Development to join its Industry Strategy Team. This team drives the growth of the firm's market share and competitive position through the development and implementation of transformative growth strategies across 12 key sectors. The Manager plays a key role in framing and analyzing trends and complex business problems within the sector, developing recommendations, partnering with senior leaders and partners to drive implementation, facilitating communication processes, and developing pragmatic solutions to drive successful initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity to be directly involved in the strategic direction and planning for an AmLaw Top 10 firm and be a key member of a market-leading industry team structure. Although currently remote, upon reopening of the office, this position can be resident in any of our US locations with a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule. Primary responsibilities include:

Responsibilities:

With input from Industry Leaders and other senior team members, develop strategic goals for several industry teams, including Technology, Energy, and Automotive & Mobility.

Prepare and manage implementation plans, regularly reviewing progress to ensure strategies remain relevant and in line with Firm priorities. Based on results, makes, recommends, recommends, and implements adjustments and modifications.

Identify and review market and legal trends; analyzes and applies this information in development of strategies for go-to-market industry teams.

Monitor business climate, trends in technology and development, and government activity in areas of the Firm's current and anticipate services lines within assigned industries.

Manage and analyze internal data (e.g., clients, capabilities, services, profitability) within assigned industries.

Drive working groups, initiatives, and special projects as requested by leadership team.

Prepare quarterly reports with Industry Leaders for Firm management on key metrics, strategic priorities, and industry trends and developments.

Prepare annual partner meeting industry sessions with Industry Leaders.

Work with other Managers and wider Strategy & Development team on a regular basis to ensure consistency and collaboration across all industry team efforts and alignment with Firm priorities.

Work on cross-functional projects and initiatives with various functional teams, such as Marketing & Communications, Business Development, Practice Operations, and Business Intelligence.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university (MBA is highly desired).

7+ years of related experience including proven strategy development and execution expertise. Prior law firm or other professional services experience is preferred but not required.

Knowledge of trends and business issues in the Technology, Automotive & Mobility, and/or Energy industries is a plus.

Experience excelling in a highly matrixed work environment with ability to work across time zones with global teams and multiple business units.

Strong financial acumen, analytical, and project management skills.

Prior experience creating and presenting strategic plans to senior management.

Orientation to detail while seeing the macro picture.

Very strong knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams. Prior experience with Smartsheet is a plus.

Self-starter and entrepreneurial spirit, yet highly collaborative in working with colleagues across departments, offices, and skill levels.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with senior leadership and partners.
