Responsibilities

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced professional to join our customer programs team to support our energy, sustainability, and infrastructure work with utility clients across the US. This position requires someone with a blend of strong project management skills and the analytical, technical, and creative problem solving skills essential to designing rigorous samples for research in the energy efficiency and building electrification program space. Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate across evaluation project teams to understand and assist in designing and reviewing appropriate samples for research efforts

  • Develop, document, and implement procedures for sampling approaches and statistics analysis across program evaluation projects. Identify and manage necessary QC stages throughout sampling processes and apply to projects accordingly.

  • Assist in ensuring sampling approaches are in alignment with relevant regulatory requirements and evaluation plans. Work alongside relevant team leads to ensure rollup processes and carve outs are handled accurately.

  • Review sample designs for approach, defensibility, appropriateness and accuracy

  • Assist in training staff to do straightforward sample designs with oversight and tools and lead the development of complex sample designs as needed

  • Present to clients to summarize complex sampling efforts as needed

  • Participate in team meetings and communication threads on email and Teams as needed to provide proactive status updates and to communicate/elevate issues as necessary

  • Drawing on our team’s solutions and delivery expertise, develop strategies to meet specific client needs, manage work plans, staffing, deadlines and budgets for multiple projects simultaneously

  • Collaborate with team leadership keeping them abreast of project progress and important developments

  • Participate in and support solution training and development efforts

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics or mathematics with emphasis on sampling, however, someone with solid quantitative background (e.g., engineer, physics, econometrics, accounting) and experience doing statistical sampling will also be considered

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years in research design, sample design, statistics, and/or program evaluation consulting experience (excluding Internships, Co-ops, and Fellowship)

  • Master’s degree and 5+ years in research design, sample design, statistics, and/or program evaluation consulting experience (excluding Internships, Co-ops, and Fellowship)

  • Ability to develop, communicate, and document an efficient and rigorous sampling process

  • Positive, collaborative, team-oriented attitude

  • Proactive communication; doesn’t leave the team guessing about status or steps

  • Follow-through on commitments; little to no say-do gap

  • Doesn’t leave the team waiting for their part of the job

  • Experience in data analysis for research design and/or program evaluation using R, python, SAS, SPSS, Stata, or other

  • Strong MS Excel skills, experience with MS Project

    Desired:

  • Energy efficiency and demand response program strategy, design, and/or evaluation, measurement, and verification experience

  • Technical understanding of impact evaluation and respect for regulatory parameters

  • Superior oral and written communication skills. Ability to “tell the story” conveying key takeaways of technical work in a way that is actionable and relatable to clients as well as a general, less technical audience.

  • Experience in the energy utility industry

  • Project management experience

Additional Requirements

  • The successful candidate must not be subject to employment restrictions from a former employer (such as a non-compete) that would prevent the candidate from performing the job responsibilities as described.

  • The salary range for this role is $80,700 USD - $145,440 USD, may vary based on degree, directly relevant experience and location.
