Macmillan Marketing Manager in New York, New York


Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group seeks an Associate Marketing Manager or Marketing Manager to be involved in developing and implementing innovative trade marketing campaigns for books across all ages and imprints. Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, the Associate Marketing Manager or Marketing Manager will work closely with the entire Marketing and Publicity team and play a critical role in the success of Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group’s lineup of bestselling and award-winning titles and authors. The ideal candidate will be forward-thinking, collaborative, and able to create marketing strategies using current and creative approaches. Title will be commensurate with experience.

What you'll do:

  • Serve as lead trade marketer and point of contact for publisher, editors, and sales team for selected titles

  • Develop and execute trade focused marketing campaigns for titles from picture books through young adult, working closely with the Publicity, School & Library, Consumer Marketing, and Sales teams

  • Manage the creation of title-specific marketing materials from start to finish, including writing copy, collaborating design team, and coordinating production

  • Plan and execute trade advertising campaigns for assigned titles, including writing copy for ad creative

  • Present marketing campaigns to Sales and Editorial on a regular basis

  • Maintain budget for assigned titles

  • Support the Senior Marketing Manager with high-profile campaigns, as well as with the strategy and execution of Sales Conference presentations

  • Work with the Senior Marketing Manager and Marketing Assistant to oversee the team’s operational functions, including the seasonal catalog, mailing grids, and other seasonal deadlines

What you'll bring:

  • Possess a keen understanding of book marketing, specifically in the children’s literature space

  • Working knowledge of digital marketing and advertising

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Strong communication, organization, and writing skills

  • Fluency in Microsoft Office products

  • Some travel required

    Ideal Experience/Education:

  • 3-6 years of marketing or publishing experience, children’s publishing background is a plus

  • College degree
