Provides a markets-based suite of sales and trading solutions to Institutional, Corporate, and Retail clients. Offers a full spectrum of integrated capabilities to deliver leading market insight, risk management, and execution services to issuing and/or investor clients, including access to major global markets across asset classes including: debt, interest rate, securitization, and mortgage-backed securities. Provides competitive pricing to all clients and seeks out new opportunities with prospective clients. Maximizes profit while prudently minimizing the bank’s exposure and adhering to regulatory statutes.
BMO is seeking a senior market participant on the Agency Structured Products Mortgage Trading Desk to take a leading role in detailed communication with clients. Qualifications and responsibilities include:- Interface with institutional clients and internal traders/structurers/salespeople/research to provide mortgage analysis leading to trades.
Engages clients in industry and firm sponsored conferences.
Responsible for internal mortgage analytics and modeling, including but not limited to detailed prepayment analysis.
Advises on mortgage valuation metrics and regulatory related stress test scenarios.
Institutes cross-selling initiatives to increase ranking/market share with clients and win new business.
Supports sales and trading activities with strategies, and market information customized to suit their client’s individual needs; accompanies all staff to assist with client calls, presentations, and seminars.
Recognizes opportunities to cross-sell across securitized products desks and grow wallet share with clients.
Develops marketing ideas and helps initiate transactions through appropriate presentation of financial data.
Initiates presentation of relative value ideas, and marketing ideas in a comprehensive and professional format that can be easily distributed to institutional accounts.
Analyzes historical trends in a variety of mortgage sectors and is able to incorporate into real time analysis relevant to current strategies.
Reads, analyzes and interprets common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents in order to better serve client needs.
Uses analytical skills (probability, statistical inference, etc.) and applies appropriate technical concepts and completes/leads consistent and reliable technical and financial reports/analyses to support client deliverables.
Develops an understanding of and proficiency in using all required systems and models.
Helps manage risk related to pricing and sales/trading of the trading book. Helps in developing and delivering hedging/trading strategies.
Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
15+ years of experience in mortgage prepayment analytics.
Degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science, Masters degree preferred.
Thorough knowledge of capital markets, pricing, and trading/hedging strategies and familiarity with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures.
Strong understanding of trading procedures and broader regulatory and financial concepts.
Series 7 and 63 licenses required.
Strong quantitative analysis, technology and financial analysis skills.
Strong risk management skills, fundamental analysis skills and leadership abilities.
Seasoned expert with extensive industry knowledge.
Technical leader viewed as a thought leader for innovation.
