Merchant – J.Crew Factory Men’s

Responsibilities

Pre-Season

  • Understand trend analysis and ability to translate trend to commercial big ideas

  • Analyze seasonal and hindsight information, product assortment, and competition to develop strategy

  • Build Roadmap for design articulating newness needs by month with AUC targets, as well as clear direction on carry forward products (where updates or new colors are needed)

  • Participate in Design Board Reviews and provide feedback on silhouette, fabric, and color based on hindsight/strategy

  • Utilize product strategies and analytical results to develop the product assortment, in accordance to budget, for each quarter and present the line at assortment and investment reviews

  • Present pre-season strategy to cross-functional teams (planning, sourcing)

  • Partner with planning to strategize budget and departmental opportunities

  • Drive partnership with planning on reviewing sales, receipts, markdown cadence and style color counts

  • Build and strategize marketing moments in partnership with manager that support the overarching strategies of the division

    In Season

  • Approve garment fit on key products/buys and ensure product execution meets the design aesthetic as well as commercially acceptable quality standards

  • Analyze the competitive environment and use knowledge to positively impact results, making future recommendations to leadership

  • Identify areas of the business that need attention and take action on necessary steps to improve, also identify areas of opportunity that are trending and take action to optimize

  • Partner with planning on in-season product performance and build data-driven action plans based on results

  • Ability to evaluate financial and business indicators, evaluate reports and translate the data into actionable information to drive results

  • Partner with marketing, styling, and visual to ensure key items are represented and supported by the cross functional team

    People Leadership

  • Provide leadership within the brand by motivating and inspiring team members

  • Continuous improvement on your own workplace persona, reacting productively to constructive feedback and always setting a positive example for your team.

  • Manage up to senior leadership by keeping lines of communication open in regards to team development, personal and professional achievements, as well action plans for current business results

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong business acumen

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Self-motivated, multi-tasker

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must have experience presenting to all levels within the organization

  • High taste level and a strong product point of view

  • 6+ years of experience in Merchandising

  • Background in men’s apparel required

  • Strong understanding of men’s apparel market and trends
