Imagine Early Learning Centers Multi-Site Educational Director/Special Education Coordinator in New York, New York

Position: Multi-Site Educational Director/Special Education Coordinator

Imagine Early Learning Centers seeks a NYS Certified B-2 Director to work at full day New York City educational child care centers serving children 2 months to 5 years-old, including Department of Education Pre-K For All preschool programs. This full time position will include working with nine NYC child care centers, located in Dumbo, Brooklyn, Brooklyn Heights, Metro Tech. Brooklyn, Jamaica, Queens, the Financial District, the Lower East Side, the Upper East Side, Harlem and the Bronx, where Imagine’s main office is located on the campus of CUNY Lehman College. The Multi-Site Director will assist Directors in managing centers including providing coverage for Director absences, working with the team of Directors to implement center programming and assist upper level management on company-wide initiatives such as recruitment, marketing, social media platform maintenance and administration of special programs including the organization’s philanthropic foundation Kids for Kids. The Multi-Site Director will join a team of seasoned, skilled early childhood professionals.

In addition to supporting our sites as indicated, as Special Education Coordinator,

this position will also work to provide support to staff and families of children who may present with developmental concerns or have been identified as having special needs. Duties include informal observations of children, providing staff support and training in adapting environments to meet the needs of all children, advising individualized strategies for children in need of additional support and providing support and resources to families in pursuing developmental evaluations and therapeutic services as necessary.

Experienced educator and administrator needed with the ability to interface with staff, families, colleagues, administration and the community. Experience with Developmentally Appropriate Practice, including knowledge of NAEYC standards is preferred. Candidates with experience working in the Department of Education Pre-K For All programs are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities include:

  • Participate in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum.

  • Ensure compliance with licensing and NAEYC guidelines.

  • Effective communication with families, staff and boards.

  • Effective written communication skills.

  • Ability to meet physical requirements of position which include lifting children, pushing strollers/buggies, sitting on the floor and year-round daily outdoor activities.

  • Travel between multi-site locations located in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx.

Responsibilities of Special Development Coordinator include:

  • Observe children with developmental concerns at assigned centers.

  • Provide support to center Director and staff to adapt center environment to meet the needs of all children.

  • Meet with parents when necessary to assist in the process of obtaining developmental evaluations and support services.

  • Design and implement staff and parent training in areas of special development.


  • Master's degree and New York State Teacher Certification (B-2) in Special Education required.

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a supervisory position (Program Director, Assistant Director, Program Coordinator, Supervising Lead Teacher).

  • Minimum 3 years experience as Special Education or SEIT teacher.
