The Salvation Army Music & Creative Arts Summer Intern (4 opennings) in New York, New York

Overview

This position will assist the GNY Music & Creative Arts Department in preparing for and operating Conservatory programs in Greater New York corps locations this summer

Responsibilities

June 21-25 – Conservatory Preparation and Orientation

  • Work with M&CA Department members to prepare three weeks of Corps Conservatory programs

  • Participate in orientation sessions, both in-person at Divisional Headquarters and virtually on Zoom

  • Plan for teaching major classes and theory/technique classes, including music prep, choreography prep, etc.

  • Assist in planning fun activities for Conservatory students

  • Assist in planning for morning devotions sessions

    June 28-July 2, July 5-9, July 12-16 - Corps Conservatory Sessions

  • Travel to assigned corps location for each week

  • Assist in check-in procedure for students as needed

  • Assist with morning devotions sessions as assigned

  • Assist with and/or teach a major track class for each week of Conservatory

  • Assist with and/or teach music theory/technique classes

  • Assist with implementation of fun activity for Conservatory students

  • Help clean, serve lunch/snacks, or any other logistical tasks needed

  • Assist with any finale video/performances for that location

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in performing and teaching a music and/or creative arts discipline

  • Uniformed Salvationist who participates in music or arts ensembles at the corps and divisional level

  • 18 years of age or older

  • Driver’s license and access to vehicle are helpful, but not essential
