The Salvation Army Music Instructor (Manhattan Citadel Corps) in New York, New York
Responsibilities
Music Ministry
Develop and maintain all music and creative arts programs at the Corps.
Provide one-on-one lessons (Using KeepSAfe guidelines), vocal instruction (Group or Solo), and other musical instruction.
Teach and or lead the Corps Brass Band (YP Band).
Recruit and train volunteers within the Corps and community to provide leadership to Corps music programming and youth activities.
Recruit and train music students with promising leadership skills for Salvation Army music programs.
Secure, organize, maintain, and provide constant upkeep of all equipment, instruments, and files of the Corps music department.
Aid in the planning and operation of the Summer Music Program and VBS.
Participate in Divisional and Territorial Star Search.
Encourage and support youth participation in Divisional music and arts programs by making sure participants are ready for auditions, music camps, conservatory, and Star Search.
Hold youth or soldiers accountable to the orders and regulations of a bandsmen/senior soldier after participating at the core and/or our part of Divisional groups.
Miscellaneous Responsibilities
Offer pastoral care to youth (with guidance from Corps Officers and assistance from other local officers)
Keep and record statistical information pertaining to all youth, music, and creative arts programs at the Corps and participants in Divisional groups.
Assist with seasonal fundraising campaigns and special concert events.
Any other task as designated by the Corps Officer(s) that would be beneficial to the continued development and growth of the Manhattan Citadel Corps.
Qualifications
Must have basic office skills including knowledge of the use of computers.
Associate Degree in a related field, or two years of college in education or music, or 2 years of experience working with youth and music ministries.
Must have musical ability in Brass Band, Theory, Vocal, and other Instrumental Instruction.
Uniform-wearing Salvationist preferred, with a commitment to evangelical outreach and discipleship.
Strong Communication skills, positive attitude, initiative, flexibility, dependability, creativity, and ability to work both independently and as a member of a professional team.
Ability to support, instruct, and connect with youth, staff, and Corps leaders.
Must have a commitment to evangelical Christian outreach.
Be self-motivated and hard-working.
