New York Edge Part-Time Assistant Director - Summer 2019 in New York, New York
New York Edge seeks to bridge the opportunity gap among students in high-need communities by extending the school day and year with wholesome, skill-building activities designed to improve New York City children’s academic performance, health and wellness, attitude towards school, self-confidence, character and values, and opportunity for lifelong employment.
The Assistant After-School Program Director will assist in the overall administration of the Champions Club After-School Program under the supervision of the After School Program Director including but not limited to: curriculum development, training, implementation of enrichment activities, theme based projects, scheduling of activities, daily supervision of staff, record keeping and reporting, communicating with parents and organizing special events. The Assistant After School Program Director covers the site in the absence of ASPD under the supervision of the Program Manager.
Essential Job Functions:
Directly responsible for overall supervision of tutor counselors and academic component of after-school program
Prepare alternative activities to implement during homework session that compliment the academic session
Provide a seamless day that aligns homework sessions with day school standards of learning
Encourage and lead projects that foster academic, cultural and artistic growth
Provide coverage for activity specialists
Promote the concepts of teamwork, fair play and sportsmanship inclusive of ultimate responsibility for the behavior of youth at the site and on trips
Communicate program’s challenges, progress and success with After-School Program Director, will perform projects assigned at the discretion of the After-School Program Director
Assure the responsibilities associated with the attainment of a SACC license as Director or supervisor

Associate's Degree requiredwith demonstration of pursuit of B.A. Degree
Bachelor's Degree preferred
Minimum of two years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required
Ability to be credentialed as SACC license director or supervisor
Hours varied by site. Our Summer Programs may typically run between 8:00am-6:00pm. Availability must be flexible.
Certifications and credentials in respective skill-based activity is highly preferred
Candidates who are qualified to lead instruction in more than one activity is preferred
Knowledgeable and skilled in Academics, Sports or Arts programs and have prior experience successfully teaching and instructing youth in Academics, Sports or Arts
