Police Athletic League Part-Time SYEP Site Monitor in New York, New York

The Police Athletic League (PAL) is the largest independent youth organization in New York City that provides educational and recreational activities for children and young adults. PAL Inc. and The New York City Police Department work in partnership to provide communities with summer and after-school recreational and educational activities.

We are looking for a Part-time SYEP Site Monitor who will be responsible for providing valuable work experience at job sites that are safe and well supervised. Assist youth in identifying their career interests through exposure to different industries, occupations, educational pathways, and the requirements for success in each of them. To enable youth to acquire positive work habits and develop employment‐related skills.

This position is available in Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and Bronx. Schedule 30-35 Hours/week.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct and prepare worksite assessments on a weekly basis that reflect field observations.

  • Collect, maintain and organize participant timesheets on a weekly basis.

  • Site Monitors must travel from worksite to worksite via public transportation daily.

  • Act as a liaison between the worksite and the contractor. Provide regular feedback to Program Director.

  • Communicate with the Program Manager(s) daily regarding program participants and worksites.

  • Maintain participant files, timesheets, and evaluations. Monitor participants' performance at worksites.

  • Ensure worksites are providing a safe and supportive environment to youth assigned to the site. Report any issues.

  • Distribute and collect all program documents as necessary.

  • Assist with the distribution of debit cards. Assist with preparation of files for audit. T his position requires traveling to the main office in Queens as needed.

  • Attend all related meetings, training, and supervisions as required. Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge Required

  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Ability to serve as a strong role model, provide guidance to young workers, and mediate conflict as needed.

  • Flexibility in schedule and some evenings/weekends will be necessary.

  • Computer literate and competency in MS Word, Excel.

  • Multi-tasker and exceptional communication skills are a must.

  • Possess strong supervisory, collaboration, and organizational skills.

  • Excellent writing and communication skills are required.

  • Ability to navigate the New York City transportation systems

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate discretion.

  • Ability to work independently and to work as part of a team.

  • Bilingual is a plus.
