McKinsey & Company Partnerships and Convenings Manager, North America in New York, New York


Undergraduate degree from a respected institution is required
Advanced degree in a business-related discipline is desirable
At least 8 years of professional experience with experience in communications, preferably in a professional services environment or communications firm
Exceptional event management background and proven strategic vision
Recognized as seasoned advisor with prior depth of experience in developing successful event programs which support reach and relevance plans to target clients, potential clients, and other stakeholders
Proven experience of negotiating contracts, operating under pressure, and executing complex events with a keen attention to detail
Strong instinct and ability to work collaboratively across tenures and role types; can successfully navigate ambiguous work environments
Strong sense of entrepreneurship and ability to execute
Strong results oriented, collaborative leadership style
Willingness and ability to travel at least 25% and flexibility to accommodate occasional last-minute requests
Who You'll Work With
You will be based in North America (New York, Chicago, DC preferred) and will report to the Director of External Relations for North America.
What You'll Do
You will devise and implement a comprehensive strategy for priority regional events and partnerships with other leading institutions that enhance the reputation of the firm and the NA region.

You will be an integral member of the NA External Relations team, and will execute the implementation of our events strategy across NA, ensuring it supports our thought leadership and client development priorities. Key activities include supporting pre-existing marquee events (i.e., World Economic Forum) and scaling our efforts to create new signature events (either on behalf of McKinsey or in partnership with other organizations) that convene important clients, potential clients and influencers.

You will also lead and strengthen legacy firm partnerships and our relationships with membership organizations, such as G100, Council on Foreign Relations, and The Conference Board.

Some of your specific activities will include developing and tracking a consistent set of metrics that help us evaluate the impact of our partnerships; analyzing priority events and partnerships using marketing principles to flex our strategy to ensure we are creating opportunities for our partners to meet everyone who matters to the firm in NA

You will also oversee NA-wide event operations, which involves maintaining oversight of major McKinsey-led and partnered events across NA; building and managing a system to capture our engagement with external event organizers to evaluate return on investment (ROI) and improve our ability to make strategic investments across the firm.

In this role, you will be an integral thought partner to cell-based colleagues and an emerging events hub to cultivate a best practice-oriented culture, creating tools and guidelines that equip colleagues to consistently deliver quality standards at events, measure and track ROI of events, and maintain a view of priority McKinsey-hosted and externally-owned events.

You will serve as a key stakeholder in firm-wide effort to re-imagine events processes and create world class experiences.
