Police Athletic League Payroll Coordinator in New York, New York

The Police Athletic League (PAL) is the largest independent youth organization in New York City that provides educational and recreational activities for children and young adults. PAL Inc. and The New York City Police Department work in partnership to provide communities with summer and after-school recreational and educational activities.

We are looking for a Payroll Coordinator who will provide overall support for day-to-day payroll activities. Under the Payroll Manager supervisor, the Payroll Coordinator will be responsible for processing biweekly payroll and employee maintenance on the ADP payroll system. This position is temporarily remote.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all employee payroll-related questions/concerns.

  • Process and maintain employee information including retro pay, direct deposit, banking information, issue Aline Cards, changes of tax status, exemptions, deductions setups, and changes, child support orders, garnishes, levies, and vacation payouts.

  • Assert that time cards submitted are review and correct based on the worksheet that is submitted.

  • Review, approve and organize payroll paperwork.

  • Process new hire applications and letters of change.

  • Ascertain that timesheets or time cards submitted match the payroll register.

  • Process bi-weekly hourly payroll for all full-time and part-time employees.

  • Reconcile union, credit union, CIRS and VOYA voucher them for payment.

  • Produce federal, state, and local tax payments.

  • Balance payroll runs.

  • Answer employee questions and troubleshooting issues.

  • Assist with quarterly and/or yearly audits.

  • Run reports as needed.

    Education & Experience

  • A minimum of an Associate degree and at least two-year working experience.

  • ADP Workforce now experience is a must.

  • Basic knowledge of payroll & employment law.

    Skills & Knowledge/General Comments

  • Strong organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent data entry skills, accurate, efficient, and analytical.

  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Mostly Excel and Word).

  • Acrobat Pro, eSignatures, ATS knowledge is a plus.

  • Be a team player, ready to take initiative or support on new upcoming projects
