Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world's leading global law firms with more than 4,000 lawyers and staff in 31 offices, is seeking a pitches & proposals manager, reporting to the director of business development systems. Although currently remote, this position will reside in our Philadelphia, New York, or Los Angeles office.

The pitches & proposals manager is a strong advocate for the firm who utilizes excellent writing, project management, research, and analytical skills to develop compelling pitches and responses to requests for proposals. With a deep understanding of the firm's capabilities and the evolving legal needs of the world's top companies, the pitches & proposals manager plays a key role in helping highly collaborative cross-functional teams meet deadlines in a manner that is smooth, efficient, and aligned with the firm's strategy and values. The pitches & proposals manager is dedicated to continuous improvement in the firm's proposal function through refinements in knowledge management, protocols and procedures, and related technology.

Candidates must have strong organizational and problem solving skills, and have a proactive approach and positive attitude. Intellectual curiosity, high levels of discretion, responsiveness, and initiative are also needed. Flexibility with working hours, including occasional nights and weekends, is required in order to manage workload effectively.

Key responsibilities include:

Manages the development of high-priority pitches and proposals for practices and industry groups across the firm
Develops and maintains standard templates for pitches and proposals, including templates for cover letters, executive summaries, and follow-up letters
Drafts, updates, and maintains practice descriptions, tailored content, and other standard response language
Partners with co-workers across departments to ensure timely contributions to proposals and improve content contributions to marketing and business development projects
Maintains compliance with related firm protocols and recommends process improvements
Acts as a subject matter expert in law firm proposal best practices and provides proposal writing training to the marketing & communications department

Experience and Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university
Seven years of relevant experience with significant focus on pitch writing and marketing and business development support. Equivalent combinations of education and years of experience will be considered.
Understanding of basic sales strategies and client decision making processes
Familiarity with procurement processes for professional services
Strong interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of individuals with differing opinions and diverse personalities, including partners and other lawyers, executives, all levels of employees across the firm, clients, and vendors.
Strong client service orientation and dedication to high-quality work
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information appropriately
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, anticipate needs, and exercise independent, sound judgment
Proven ability to prioritize work and handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines in an extremely fast-paced, constantly evolving environment
Acute attention to accuracy and detail in all aspects of responsibilities
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions
Proficiency is required in Microsoft Office and related add-ins, document management systems, Nuance, SharePoint, and InterAction
