The Free Standing Store (FSS) Planning Manager is an exciting opportunity for a highly collaborative, entrepreneurial individual. This person will analytically and strategically support all store planning efforts with particular focus on management and execution of optimal inventory levels for all the MAC Free-standing Stores in North America. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) timely replenishment of saleable and non-saleable products, forecasting review and exceptions management, store communications and contact, inventory analysis and order processing.

This role will be a highly collaborative; working across functional teams including (but not limited to) brand teams, demand planning, marketing, operations, information technology. The goal of the role is to ensure optimal levels of inventory, while continuing maintaining the business and suggesting opportunities for improvement that is backed by analysis.

The role will report into the NA replenishment team based in NYC with tight collaboration with the MAC brand. The FSS Planning Manager will be responsible for identifying and proposing new ideas that drive the business or improve efficiencies. The planner will also need to ensure all documentation of processes remain updated for easy knowledge transfer to colleagues and other brands.

Forecasting & Replenishment 40%

  • Working closely with Marketing & Demand Planning to ensure FSS sales forecasts are aligned with promotions

  • Drive forecasting alignment process at item and aggregate levels monthly with Demand Planning

  • Setup Promotional Events in JustEnough (JE) for the year

  • Adjust Just Enough spikes as needed based on recent sales and/or strategic decisions

  • Manage item and/or site supersedes and cannibalization

  • Review forecast exceptions

  • Set up New doors, plan inventory exit of Closing doors

  • Drive seasonal Planning meetings with brand team

  • Attend & present FSS KPIs during consensus meetings with demand and supply

  • Drive Merchandise Financial Plan (MFP/ Category plans) for our channel

  • Present at corporate meetings (e.g. consensus) on FSS inventory position, key initiatives, etc…

  • Drive monthly collaboration meetings with the brand and cross functional teams

  • Perform Sales & Inventory analysis

  • Detailed review of OOS

  • Place Opening Order for new doors

  • Review and Analyze Counter service levels, investigate as required to determine root cause and recommend solutions

Replenishment Optimization 10%

  • Manage Replenishment Parameters and support replenishment optimization

Inventory Management 20%

  • Review and analyze inventory

  • Perform and propose stock transfers as needed

  • Review Inventory discrepancies and action

  • Plan, Manage, Communicate, and Execute Returns of Goods on discontinued items, and post-holiday items

  • Drive excess analysis and execution. Recommend aged out items and work with corporate teams

  • Maintain regular cadence of meeting with key stakeholders (e.g. brand teams, IS)

  • Primary contact for MAC East Coast FSS store managers on inventory questions and concerns

Continuous Process Improvements 15%

  • Drive internal system and process improvements to drive the business better

  • Drive cross functional process improvements related to EC inventory.

Forecasting & Shipment Planning 10%

  • Update Weekly Shipment and sales forecast; align with Demand Planning monthly

  • Work with Operations team and DC teams to ensure shipment changes, projects, etc…

Assortment Management 5%

  • Communicate & organize SRP /SKU edits, timing of disco and RTV requirements due to new season's assortment

  • Ensure JE has the right SKU/Door set up


  • Self-starter and ability to work independently

  • Fast learner

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills; ability to quickly re-prioritize while still meeting deadlines

  • Ability to analyze and review large amount of data in Excel or MS Access

  • Collaboration across functional and regional teams

  • Ability to succinctly summarize analysis results and recommend solutions for optimizing systems and processes

  • Strong math and analytical skills

  • Strong understanding of time phased forecasting and replenishment systems and parameters (safety stock, lead time, A/B/C classification, review cycle, etc.)

  • Strong communication skills

  • Knowledge of inventory models and metrics

  • Deep understanding of retail planning and inventory management needs

  • Prior experience using forecasting and replenishment systems such as JDA, JustEnough, SAP, I2

  • Understanding of retail store operations and planning processes
