NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing Postdoctoral Research Associate, Machine Listening in New York, New York
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral researcher position to join Sounds of New York City (SONYC), a large NSF-funded project that aims to monitor, analyze, and mitigate urban noise pollution. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of novel, data-driven machine listening solutions for the automatic analysis of urban sound scenes, e.g. sound event detection and classification. These solutions are aimed for deployment as part of a large acoustic sensor network already in operation, and to contribute to data and tools in use by our partners in the city. Therefore, SONYC affords a unique opportunity to contribute to improving the life of urban citizens in NYC and beyond.
The successful candidate will join the Music and Audio Research Laboratory (MARL) and the Center for Urban Science and Progress (CUSP) at New York University, working as part of a team led by Juan Pablo Bello. The position offers a starting salary of US$70K for an initial annual term appointment, with the possibility of renewal for another year. The position is based in New York City. The expected start date is Summer 2019.
