Brown Brothers Harriman Private Equity Analyst in New York, New York
Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. ("BBH") is seeking to hire a Private Equity Analyst to join the BBH Capital Partners ("BBH CP") team. BBH CP is the Private Equity group within Brown Brothers Harriman & Co., the oldest private bank in the US. In 2020, BBH CP celebrated 31 years of active principal investing, having successfully managed several funds and investments through multiple economic cycles.
BBH CP makes both control and structured minority equity investments in growing, middle-market companies in: Healthcare, Tech/Media/Telecom (TMT), and Business Products & Services industries. BBH CP is currently investing two funds: Capital Partners VI ("CPVI", $1B), and CP Opportunities Fund ("CPOF", $250M). BBH CP seeks to be a value-added partner to portfolio management teams by leveraging the expertise and resources from the Capital Partners team and the broader BBH relationship network to support and enhance operating performance.
BBH CP is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Summer 2021 start.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
BBH CP Analysts are actively involved in all aspects of the investment process, from investment thesis formation, to investment structuring and closing, to portfolio monitoring and support, through exit. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting industry research to develop and test investment theses; creating financial models with scenarios involving different investment, acquisition, capital structure, and acquisition assumptions; developing materials that present the deal team's thesis to the CP team and investment committee; conducting company due diligence; assisting in portfolio company performance monitoring and financing activities; and supporting strategic initiatives at portfolio companies with senior management teams.
In BBH CP's consensus-driven culture, Analysts are often asked to present their findings and perspectives to the broader BBH Capital Partners team and often interact directly with management teams at the portfolio companies.
At BBH CP, Analysts and Associates have the opportunity to work on investments across indsutry verticals, and for both the larger and smaller funds, providing a variety and volume of deal exposure to create better learning opportunities.
BBH CP is looking for high-performing candidates with a strong work ethic, exceptional quantitative analytic capabilities, strong oral and written communication skills, outstanding organizational skills, and a desire to grow their responsibility on the team as capabilities allow.
Candidates should have 1-2 years of transaction-related finance work experience, a track record of outstanding academic performance, and the ability to successfully work in teams.The ideal candidates will have full-time work experience in Investment Banking, Private Equity, or other M&A-related finance jobs. Prior background in Healthcare, TMT, and Business Products & Services is welcome, but not required.
BBH CP believes in investing in strong, committed talent. The Private Equity Analyst role is a 2-3-year position, with the option to continue to Private Equity Associate (and beyond) for exceptional performers. Business school is not a prerequisite for senior-level progression in the fund.
