We are currently looking for a Product Development Associate to work on Food52’s new direct-to-consumer brand, Five Two, with the Director of Product Development in its New York City headquarters. This is a unique opportunity to join the small team of a brand-new business vertical with extremely high growth potential for the company. In this role, you’ll play a very important part in bringing products to life from initial research to production. It will involve lots of hands-on work ranging from design briefing, sample management, PO management, receipt tracking, collateral/packaging management, manufacturer interaction, and coordination across multiple teams company-wide as it relates to product launches and marketing.

Requirements

  • You have at least 3 years e-commerce experience. Buying, planning, product development, and/or sourcing experience in the homewares industry strongly preferred.

  • You have incredible attention to detail in terms of visuals and products, but also in your communication style and spreadsheets.

  • You have excellent analytical skills and understand retail math and strategy (you can put together a pivot table with your eyes closed!). You leave no stone unturned and can think creatively from a product and business perspective.

  • You are a skilled multitasker and feel confident in working on multiple fast-paced projects at once.

  • You put the end-consumer first in your decision making and feel excited that your day-to-day work will have an impact on thousands of people and their homes.

  • You are business-minded and feel invested and conscientious of every dollar and cent being spent. You always look for ways to improve margins and terms, whether by negotiating on costs or streamlining fulfillment processes.

  • You have a keen eye (and taste!) for great products and beautiful tools and wares -- you understand our aesthetic, but also how know to tell a product’s story in a compelling, detailed, and creative way.

  • You are very comfortable receiving feedback and working in an open, collaborative manner with your manager and senior stakeholders who require input on projects.

  • You’re extremely self-motivated -- you feel comfortable creating your own deadlines, improving broken processes, creating new processes, and rethinking the way things are typically done in the retail industry.

  • You’re extremely passionate about the homewares industry -- you stay on top of new brands, enjoy competitive research, work well with third party partners, and are excited to attend events or dinners related to work outside of company work hours.

  • You understand the value of internal and external partnerships and know how to foster relationships, build trust, and value their goals and objectives in relation to your own.

  • You have a positive attitude and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and help out with any tasks related to Five Two -- as a two-person team at a startup, there will be tasks that regularly arise that lay outside of your core responsibilities.

  • You are comfortable with the possibility of regular international travel.

  • Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support the entire development process for all Five Two products, from initial research to launch.

  • Own and create sample organization processes. Track and catalog samples throughout the entire design phase with 100% accuracy.

  • Manage weekly sales recaps, sell-through reports, and receipts.

  • Proactively manage inventory and shipping collateral in coordination with Supply Chain Manager.

  • Assist with timeline management with vendors from PO issue through production and final landing.

  • Manage SKU setup and quality assurance to ensure all details are completed and accurate before SKUs go live -- down to the last cent.

  • Manage on-boarding of new vendors including paperwork collection and setup in our admin.

  • Participation in all design and manufacturer meetings and communications.

  • Participation in photo and video request process for Five Two launches and creative.

  • Assist with internal and community product testing schedules. Ability to test products personally at the office and/or at home.

  • Coordinate with Copy and Marketing teams on all Five Two related community outreach (quizzes, landing page updates, product knowledge).

  • Assist with all Five Two brand collaborations, pop-ups, and events.
