Product Manager Intern - Digital Marketing Operations & Technology

Who You'll Work With

You will be based in our New York office for 10 weeks as part of our McKinsey Summer Internship program. You will be part of the Digital Marketing Operations & Technology (DMOT) guild. You will work with teams who build and deliver large scale digital marketing transformations, integrated into client engagements focused on growth, marketing, and sales. The guild functions at the intersection of McKinsey's Digital and Marketing & Sales practices.

The Marketing & Sales practice strives to help clients in both consumer and business-to-business environments on a wide variety of marketing and sales topics. Our clients benefit from our experience in core areas of marketing such as branding, customer insights, marketing ROI, digital marketing, CLM, pricing, and sales and channel management. Our practice offers an exceptional opportunity to work at the intersection of marketing, sales and consulting. Focusing on issues like redefining marketing and sales operations and commercial transformation, our people help clients build capabilities and transform how companies go to market - moving them to customer centric organizations.

What You'll Do

For 10 weeks over the summer, you will work within a team of product managers and solution architects who help our clients develop the vision and guide them through the implementation of MarTech and/or ad-tech products that help them attract and grow customers using digital marketing strategies and technology.

You will influence many of the recommendations our clients need to positively change their businesses and enhance performance. You will join client engagements with 3-5 consultants who will provide clients with direction on technology platforms and features that will deliver enhanced customer experiences. You will assist consulting teams in making decisions and documenting an ambitious and visionary product roadmap to deliver the most value/ROI and prioritize initiatives in areas such as retail media networks, personalization at scale, privacy-safe growth, direct to consumer activation, etc.

You will contribute to and support developing use cases, sizing them for business value, and prioritizing the activation roadmap based on value and feasibility. You will work in an Agile operating model to assist solution architects to define and document user stories. You will contribute to solutioning the underlying data and solution architecture for use cases. You will work with consulting teams who support Agile development by contributing to developing sprint plans, removing roadblocks, flagging problems and ensuring progress.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a master's or MBA degree-granting program at the time of the internship with an expected graduation date in the 2023-2024 academic year
3+ years experience with MarTech product management, solutioning, and/or implementation (Adobe, Salesforce, Google, Amazon, Oracle, etc.; Ad products, Media planning)
Breadth of knowledge across all areas of marketing and advertising technology (data, analytics, email, website, CRM, paid media, etc.) preferred with depth and hands-on experience in at least one area
Experience working with a product roadmap, prioritizing initiatives against value and facilitating sprint planning and backlog grooming
Experience with digital products; ability to work with in-house teams and external agencies
Product management certification is a plus
Passion to challenge the status quo and find new solutions and drive out of the box ideas; loves and embraces change
Believes in a non-hierarchical culture of collaboration, transparency, safety and trust
Not afraid to "roll up the sleeves" and seeks to go outside comfort zone to learn, and pushes teams to do the same
