Compensation: $70,500 - $80,600

Location/Hours

This is a full-time, hybrid position based out of our New York City office. It is expected that some duties will be performed on-site at least 2 days a week and some remotely, with the understanding that government and public health guidelines will help determine the extent to which it is safe to carry out in-person and onsite activities.

All candidates must be within commutable distance of SEO’s offices at 55 Exchange Place, New York, NY 10005, upon hire.

ABOUT TECH DEVELOPER

Tech Developer is a new initiative providing an intensive, free immersion program designed to propel Black, Latinx, and Native American Computer Science and Engineering college sophomores to the next level of technical and problem-solving skills. Launched with the guidance of tech industry leaders, this program closes the preparation gap for students through knowledge, training, and experience – with an emphasis on the application of programming tools in addressing real-world problems. OVERVIEW

The Program Manager (PM) supports various aspects of the SEO Tech Developer operations and student advising, primarily focusing on managing Tech Developer programming. The PM will maintain and manage a comprehensive strategic plan that includes program operations, staffing, training, and other projects to meet organizational goals and increase the program's overall reach and impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Operations

  • Assume full responsibility for the seamless execution of the Tech Developer summer program deliverables.

  • Develop plans and workflows; track program milestones, delegate tasks, and hold team members accountable to deadlines.

  • Manage program expenses, budget reconciliation, and other ongoing administrative processes.

  • Monitor inboxes and provide timely responses to participant inquiries and questions for our program participants, and exercise sound judgment in resolving and escalating customer service issues.

  • Support event planning and execution as needed.

  • Identify, propose, and manage other initiatives that advance and support SEO Tech Developer’s strategic and operating objectives.

Coaching & Instruction

  • Under the direction of the Associate Director, provide oversight and support 12 part-time Engineering Instructors and Teaching Assistants.

  • Manage the recruitment, hiring, time, attendance, and performance of instructional staff.

  • Maintain a professional and positive learning environment for both staff and participants through detailed communication and management of program deliverables.

  • Leverage existing curriculum to assist student cohorts with career development and readiness instruction via lectures, activity-based learning workshops, resume & cover letter reviews, and projects designed to give participants the tools to navigate their job searches successfully.

  • Support Instructors and Teaching Assistants in tracking and monitoring individual participant and cohort progress, and developing individualized interventions .

Systems & Analytics

  • Use Monday.com and other project management tools to track and organize program deliverables; create goals and KPIs to evaluate processes and draw insights to inform recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Provide direction and feedback to the Program Coordinator in tracking program participant data; retain accountability for data accuracy and management.

  • Assist with database management by monitoring, collecting, and assessing available data to determine the effectiveness of current programming and messaging; suggest changes accordingly.

  • Provide ad-hoc reporting support to the Associate Director and other team members as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 3+ years of work experience in program management or similar role; strong preference for tech industry experience – either as an engineer, software developer, or technical recruiter.

  • 1+ years of people management experience with a successful track record of delivering feedback and developing professionals; intern and volunteer management applies.

  • Evidence of pre-professional or early career coaching, mentorship, or professional development experience, is required. Working knowledge of adult learning and development practices and frameworks is a plus.

  • Practiced verbal and interpersonal communication skills; must be comfortable speaking to and engaging with a wide range of communities and through different avenues, including in-person, email, messaging platforms, video chats/conferencing, and phone calls.

  • Technical proficiency in MS Office, GSuite, and standard workplace applications like Zoom and Box. Intermediate skills in database administration (e.g., Salesforce) and advanced Excel skills are strongly preferred.

  • Strong organizational skills and experience managing multiple competing priorities and meeting deadlines independently and as part of a larger team.

  • Exemplary attention to detail, copywriting, and proofing skills. Must be able to adopt SEO’s brand guidelines and flex tone and style to match both medium and audience.

  • A passion for closing opportunity gaps for students.

  • Relationship Management: Proven ability to build relationships, influence key partners and stakeholders from the SEO community, and produce outcomes through collaboration.

The compensation listed in this posting reflects what SEO believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting.
