Reports to: Director of Programs

Target Start Date: January 18, 2022

Location: is headquartered in NYC. As a result of COVID-19, DoSomething staff are working fully remote. DoSomething is exploring a hybrid return to office approach with a target of spring 2022. Preferably, candidates will be based in the New York City Metro area, but candidates in other locations within the U.S. will be considered.

WHO WE ARE is a youth-led movement for good. We have the stability of a 28-year-old institution, but we look, feel, and operate like a tech-forward nonprofit. Our social impact programming has mobilized millions of members to clothe half of America’s youth in homeless shelters, clean up 3.7 million cigarette butts from the streets, run the largest youth-led sports equipment drive, and register over 250,000 voters ( during the 2020 presidential election, 71% of whom actually voted!

We're looking for a collaborative, solutions-oriented, and iterative Program Manager who will leverage their lived experiences and learned democracy and youth leadership development expertise to decipher the motivations and represent the interests of young people across the spectrum of identity.

Under the direction of the Director of Programs, t he Program Manager contributes to the mission and vision of by working cross functionally to develop and deliver DoSomething programming in service of youth-led social impact. As Program Manager, you will act as team lead for creative concepting and project management of a portfolio of social impact programming from ideation to evaluation, and program execution all based on youth focused research, data and insights.


Program Strategy (40%)

  • Manage the strategic direction of our programs to support the creative concepting and design processes.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams as a connecting thread and team lead on creating programs from creative ideation to program execution and implementation

  • Work closely with the Impact and Product teams to develop and codify a storyboarding strategy to activate young people, inform the user experience, and the communications & marketing strategies.

  • Evaluate and iterate upon our current program creation processes for continuous improvement.

    Project Management (40%)

    Ensure the successful and timely delivery of DoSomething programming by managing all phases of the program lifecycle including:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure programs are projected accurately and effectively, with a keen attention to risk mitigation and balancing competing priorities.

  • Coordinate cross-departmentally to ensure each programmatic deliverable gets the level of support it needs to achieve its goals.

  • Implement systems to actively monitor program performance, develop interventions to ensure successful outcomes, and maximize efficiencies between internal stakeholders

    Know Young People (20%)

  • Conduct actionable research related to social issues; identify specific problems and the corresponding research-backed solutions to activate our members at scale.

  • Engage with DoSomething members to gain insights into what impact areas matter most to them and advise the team on how to best frame our programming to resonate widely.

  • Concept creative strategies to increase youth awareness and deepen engagement in DoSomething programming, and partner cross-functionally to develop and deliver both short-term interventions and long-term solutions for growth.

  • Maintain community contacts and partnerships to keep a pulse on changes in the youth engagement and democracy fields.

    What you bring.

  • 2-4 years of project and/or program management experience.

  • Civic action, democracy, or youth development expertise. Must have working knowledge of current and historical barriers to civic participation, especially among BIPOC youth, and other historically marginalized and underrepresented communities.

  • Mission passion for young people and youth development with the ability to interpret the core behaviors, motivators, and needs of young people today.

  • Must be proficient in project management tools (e.g. AirTable, Smartsheets, Slack) and techniques, adept at managing competing priorities.

  • Skilled in tracking and measuring multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of detail and accuracy.

  • Working knowledge of project management tools as well GSuite, MS Office (mainly Excel), and Hubspot CRM required.

  • Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative data surveying and concepting with at least one BI Tool (Looker, Tableau, etc.)

  • Basic budget management skills are a huge plus.

  • JazzHR maintains secure job board pages. Job boards will default to HTTPS. Additionally, if we were to terminate our contract with JazzHR our candidate data is deleted from JazzHR’s systems in accordance with JazzHR’s Terms of Service.
