Project Leader - Consumer/Retail (The Boston Consulting Group, Inc. - New York, NY) - Manage the design and development of long-term business strategies for consumer and retail clients in the areas of go-to-market strategy, operating model design, organizational design, and value creation in order to optimize revenue growth and organizational capability. Specific duties include: perform market research, benchmarking, market sizing, modeling, forecasting, and decision analysis to identify growth opportunities; design and implement value capture plans tailored for retail companies, identifying growth levers across their value proposition, sales channels, and expansion plans; develop comprehensive go-to-market strategies for consumer and retail companies, factoring in distribution channels, retailer relationships, and consumer insights to optimize product launches and market penetration; advise consumer and retail firms in restructuring and designing their organizations; support due diligence processes for potential consumer company acquisitions; manage case team responsibilities including personnel assignments, research and analysis, and reports to clients; oversee and direct consultants and junior professional staff, and oversee project planning and preparation of outputs; and present findings to senior client management, and oversee business development and client relationships. Requires: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Consumer Science, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus three (3) years of experience as a management consultant or business analyst which must include at least one (1) year of experience providing business strategy recommendations focusing on operational efficiency and revenue growth to companies in the consumer/retail sectors (experience can be gained pre- or post- Bachelor’s degree). Specific skills/other requirements (quantitative experience requirement not applicable to this section) - must possess the following: analyzing consumer and potential consumer surveys to gain a deep understanding of consumer perceptions, identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats ensuring actionable insights that can guide strategic decision-making; providing recommendations on retailers' category assortment as well as optimal purchasing price, based on comprehensive analysis of competitive positioning, profitability metrics, and prevailing market trends; evaluating current organizational health of consumer or retail companies by scrutinizing roles and responsibilities, spans of control, RACIs (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, and Informed matrices), and reporting lines; supporting companies during the acquisition process of consumer firms by conducting thorough analyses including evaluating target companies' financial performance, understanding the competitive landscape, and identifying and interpreting prevailing market trends; applying advanced economic and financial analysis theories including competitive cost and decision analysis, capabilities assessment, portfolio review based on financial reports, and experience and scale curve analysis; conducting advanced analysis of scale economies, seasonal effects on financial forecasts, impact of uncertainties on business outcomes, corporate financing policies, and evaluation of factors that influence a company's debt capacity; and managing individuals, teams and processes. Partial telecommute available. Must report to and reside within commutable distance of the listed BCG office. Domestic/international travel required (up to 80%) based on client/company need.
