Project Leader/Principal - Consumer Goods (The Boston Consulting Group, Inc. - New York, NY) - Manage the design and development of long-term business strategies for consumer and retail clients in the areas of go-to-market strategy, operating model design, organizational design, and value creation in order to optimize revenue growth and organizational capability. Specific duties include: perform market research, benchmarking, market sizing, modeling, forecasting, and decision analysis to identify growth opportunities; develop consumer-centric business strategies by analyzing consumer behavior trends, consumer needs, and market dynamic, and create insights for product development and marketing initiatives; lead consumer market research to identify emerging consumer needs, preferences, and buying patterns; improve customer experience and streamline customer-facing operations for consumer companies in digital and physical channels by implementation automation including Al, and introducing e-commerce platforms, mobile applications, and other digital tools; analyze and optimize offerings to meet customer demand and define and execute technical and strategic measures that help sales and marketing initiatives, and expand product portfolios; evaluate new category attractiveness and feasibility for entries, and benchmark competition and provide strategic recommendations; develop go-to-market strategies for new product launches; evaluate and recommend supply chain optimization projects; manage case team responsibilities including personnel assignments, research and analysis, and reports to clients; oversee and direct consultants and junior professional staff, and oversee project planning and preparation of outputs; and present findings to senior client management, and oversee business development and client relationships. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Management, Consumer Science, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus three (3) years of experience as a management consultant or business analyst which must include at least one (1) year of experience providing business strategy recommendations focusing on operational efficiency and revenue growth to companies in the consumer goods sector. Specific skills/other requirements (quantitative experience requirement not applicable to this section) - must possess the following: providing recommendations on companies' product assortments, price pack architecture, based on comprehensive analysis of competitive positioning, profitability metrics, and prevailing market trends; building demand forecasting tools for consumer goods companies to improve forecast accuracy, reducing stock outs and growing revenue; conducting segmentation analysis to identify performance targets and opportunity levers across store or customer segments, and conducting price elasticity analysis to understand exclusivity and saturation of specific product categories; conducting performance/velocity analysis to identify inventory optimization potential, including purchase data, transference/substitutions, and bundling to capture consumer purchasing trends, competitive positioning and pricing dynamics, and factors impacting the overall market; applying advanced economic and financial analysis theories including competitive cost and decision analysis, capabilities assessment, portfolio review based on financial reports, and experience and scale curve analysis; conducting advanced analysis of scale economies, seasonal effects on financial forecasts, impact of uncertainties on business outcomes, corporate financing policies, and evaluation of factors that influence a company's debt capacity; and managing individuals, teams and processes. Partial telecommute available. Must report to and reside within commutable distance of the listed BCG office. Domestic/international travel required (up to 80%) based on client/company need.
