WSP is currently initiating a search for a summer intern for our New Rochelle, NY field office. Be involved in projects with our Project Management/Construction Management Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
This internship will be working closeing with an MTA project. Penn Station Access will provide Metro-North customers with service into and out of Penn Station by diverting certain New Haven Line trains via Amtrak’s Hell Gate Line. All Metro-North trains currently terminate at Grand Central Terminal, so the new connection to Penn Station will add redundancy and resiliency to the network. The project includes four new ADA-accessible passenger rail stations in the East Bronx, bridge rehabilitations, over 19 miles of new and rehabilitated track work, the reconfiguration of Metro-North's New Rochelle Yard, new and reconfigured interlockings, and the modernization of signal, power and communication infrastructure. It will bring Amtrak's Hell Gate Line into a state of good repair and improve reliability and on-time performance for intercity passengers.
Oversee contract compliance to project plans, specifications, and applicable codes and standards on a major design-build transportation project
Participate in coordination meetings with project team members and community representatives such as the client, design -build team, and supporting internal design and construction staff and follow-up on action items resulting form these meetings
Preform site inspections of ongoing construction activities
Prepare reports on project status
Who You Are
Current standing as a Rising Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Graduate student actively enrolled in an accredited engineering/architecture Undergraduate or Graduate program
Prior internship experience, leadership experience, or relevant coursework
Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CAD
Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills
Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products
The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately
Famililarity with BIM, Rhino or any other related 3D applications.
Preferred candidates are currently living or studying in the Greater NY Bronx area.
