Summary:

New York Edge is seeking a Part-Time Assistant Director who will assist in the overall administration of the Champions Club After-School Program under the supervision of the After School Program Director including but not limited to: curriculum development, training, implementation of enrichment activities, theme based projects, scheduling of activities, daily supervision of staff, record keeping and reporting, communicating with parents and organizing special events. The Assistant Director cover the site in the absence of ASPD under the supervision of the Program Manager.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Directly responsible for overall supervision of tutor counselors and academic component of after-school program

  • Prepare alternative activities to implement during homework sessions that complement the academic session

  • Provide a seamless day that aligns homework sessions with day school standards of learning

  • Responsible for leading trips off site and supervising students and staff for the duration of the entire outing

  • Encourage and lead projects that foster academic, cultural and artistic growth

  • Provide coverage for activity specialists

  • Promote the concepts of teamwork, fair play and sportsmanship inclusive of ultimate responsibility for the behavior of youth at the site and on trips

  • Communicate program’s challenges, progress and success with After-School Program Director, will perform projects assigned at the discretion of the After-School Program Director

  • Assure the responsibilities associated with the attainment of a SACC license as a Director or supervisor

  • Ensures the Afterschool program is compliant with all DYCD, DOE and DOHMH regulations, timelines and staying abreast of all local, state and federal pandemic management conditions and requirements.

    Required Skills:

  • Ability to be credentialed as SACC license director or supervisor

  • Able to work late afternoons and/or evenings. After-School hours can span from 2:50pm-6:50pm, with most programs running from 3pm-6pm

  • Knowledgeable and skilled in Academics, Sports or Arts programs and have prior experience successfully teaching and instructing youth in Academics, Sports or Arts

  • Experience with E-Learning and Virtual Learning

    Qualifications:

  • Minimum requirement of a Bachelor's Degree or demonstration of actively completing a B.A. Degree.

  • Minimum of two years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required

  • Certifications and credentials in respective skill-based activity is highly preferred

  • Must be able to switch to at home/remote work should the need arise

  • Candidates who are qualified to lead instruction in more than one activity is preferred

Covid-19 Related Requirements:

  • Proof of Vaccination is required.

  • Must be willing to adhere to all federal, state, and local mandates regarding the Covid-19 virus which include but are not limited to wearing PPE and remaining socially distant when possible.

    The Part-Time Assistant Director will be required to report to the school building and interact with staff, students, parents and school administration while following DOH Covid-19 guidelines such as wearing PPE and remaining socially distant.

    At time of offer and acceptance, the job requires safety and security clearances through the Department of Education and Department of Health.
