Position Summary
The part-time Academic Coach will work within Pace University’s Center for Teaching and Research in Autism to support students with autism spectrum disorders and related learning differences in their academic studies at Pace University.
Position Duties
· Attend a 3-day summer training workshop
· Work with social workers on assigned students’ neuro-psych
· Work with students one hour daily at least four days per week
· Follow professional protocol outlined in the training manual
· Keep an updated binder on each student as per the OASIS standard
· Attend all weekly staff meetings
· Follow protocol on communication with professors
· Communicate with parents twice monthly or as indicated by the Educational Coordinator or Director
· Counsel with Social Worker on any emotional issues that might arise
· Assure all Testing Accommodation Forms are submitted in a timely manner
- Assure student accommodations are in place
· Communicate and work with Program Director on any issues related to students in the OASIS program
· Seek advice when unsure
· And other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications
The part-time OASIS coaching position requires that all candidates have an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university.
Prior experience working in tutoring and/or with students with learning challenges.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.
