Planned Parenthood of Greater New York Regional Director of Nursing, NYC & Nassau County in New York, New York

The Regional Director of Nursing, as part of the Nursing Management and Leadership Team, is responsible for overall operations, and clinical care specifically to Region One of Planned Parenthood of Greater New York (PPGNY). This role provides leadership to nursing and clinical assistive staff to support the enhanced standards of equity and excellence across Planned Parenthood of Greater New York (PPGNY).

The Regional Director of Nursing introduces and supports best practices and clinical quality in the delivery of sexual and reproductive health services across the continuum of care, including abortion and gender affirming health care. In collaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer, the Regional Director of Nursing is jointly responsible for overall management of PPGNY nursing practice, including education, professional development, recruitment, and retention. This position requires travel to other centers when doing site visits to oversee staff and clinical services.

When you join PPGNY as The Regional Director of Nursing, you will be part Nursing Management and Leadership Team. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervisory and Administrative (60%)

  • Under leadership of Chief Nursing Officer, responsible for oversight and daily operations of nursing and clinical assistive staff and service, specific to all Region One clinical sites.

  • Directly supervises Clinical Nurse Managers/Nurse Leads in managing nurses in procedural abortion services and sexual reproductive health services.

  • Responsible for managing and optimizing Clinical Abortion services in collaboration with health center managers and directors.

  • Develop and sustain efficient care delivery models to ensure consistency, productivity, and adequate staffing within nursing.

  • Supports and implements standards in alignment with 1199 union standards and policies.

  • Monitors key performance indicators and metrics in relation to operational goals to increase productivity and access to services.

  • Upholds cost-containment and resource allocations to support revenue cycle and the center capital and departmental budget.

  • Oversees the functions of the nursing department in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, standards, and regulatory authorities (i.e., DOH, Article 28, etc.,)

  • In collaboration with the leadership team, facilitates implementation of performance enhancements to address Press Ganey patient and employee surveys.

  • Under direction of Chief Nursing Officer and in collaboration with Human Resources and Clinical Nurse Manager, supports and drives nursing talent acquisition, professional development, and succession planning.

  • Understands optimal patient flow and develops strategies to obtain maximum efficiency while preserving patient safety, high-quality clinical care, and optimal patient experience.

  • Proactively ensures that health center-based client services issues/grievances are handled efficiently, effectively and appropriately documented.

  • Participate in Compliance, Risk, Patient Safety and Quality Management Committees.

  • Participates in Debriefings and Root Cause Analyses and oversees implementation of corrective action plans.

  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of emergency procedures and directs and supports staff during medical emergencies or evacuations.

  • May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies.

  • Required to be on call during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies.

Training and Education (30%)

  • In conjunction with the Nurse Manager and the interdisciplinary team, implements and oversees onboarding, training, competency assessment and re assessments for nursing and clinical staff.

  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary leadership to design and implement learning opportunities based on facility needs, population specific needs, and evidence-based practice.

  • Mentor, supervise, and evaluate the team to reach their full potential and inspire continual professional and educational growth.

Direct Clinical Care (10%)

  • Provides clinical support and consultation, as needed, to the Clinical Nurse Manager and clinical staff to support efficient, high-quality, safe, and equitable care.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education Related Capability Requirements: Requires an ability equal to that usually derived from satisfactory completion of courses required for graduation from an accredited college or university with a Baccalaureate Degree, plus NYS licensure as a Registered Nurse.

  • Experience Related Capability Requirements: Requires previous experience of a minimum of 3-5 years in a nursing supervisor or leadership role. Must demonstrate strong customer service skills as they relate to patient care and overall communication.

  • Requires computer proficiency. Excellent communication skills, independent judgment and problem-solving skills are essential.

  • Licensures/Certifications: Current NYS Nurses License. Current BLS certification.
