Requirements and Responsibilities for Remote Tax Accountant:
CPA certification and/or EA license (Mandatory)
BA or BS in Accounting or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
At least 2-5 years experience preparing individual (1040) and business tax returns (1120,1120S,1065) and associated schedules and financial statements
Strong analytical skills
Good communication skills; ability to clearly explain tax issues to individuals and small business owners
Address questions from clients, to include a wide variety of tax and accounting topics affecting small businesses and individuals
Experience dealing with entity structuring for start-up companies, tax deductions, and tax notices necessary
Analyze clients' tax returns and financial statements
This job may require tax prep or bookkeeping work and requires a strong ability to analyze and explain it to the client
Ability to communicate well on the phone
Answer tax questions from clients and potential clients of 1-800Accountant
Dedicated home office space
Comfortable and proficient with computers/applications and learn new applications quickly
Skills and Experience:
Proficiency in related technologies; spreadsheets, tax prep and bookkeeping software (Lacerte is a plus)
Organization: Design workflows and procedures to ensure deadlines are achieved
Working knowledge of general business practices and ability to demonstrate business and financial acumen
Ability to coach, train and assist in mentoring less experienced staff
Experience advising business entities, tax preparation, payroll and bookkeeping
Ability to manage a high volume of clients across verticals with poise
Flexibility scheduling your time, as long as client needs are met
