Overview

HarperCollins is seeking a Field Sales Assistant to join the New York-based Field Sales team. This position will be a dual support role, working with the Field Sales Manager and Associate Director, Retail Marketing. The role is perfect for someone that thrives in a collaborative fast paced environment and is open to an ever-changing and re-prioritizing day.This is a hybrid position based out of our New York office.

Responsibilities

What you'll do:

  • Offer comprehensive administrative support to the Field Sales Manager and Associate Director, Retail Marketing.

  • Deliver exceptional customer service while managing the general inbox for the Indie Team, addressing inquiries from independent booksellers, resolving issues, and directing accounts to the appropriate internal contacts.

  • Assist the Field Sales Manager with all seasonal selling materials.

  • Oversee the Indie Next process.

  • Attend all seasonal conferences, take detailed notes, and proactively manage follow-up tasks.

  • Serve as the primary contact for our field sales force regarding account marketing and promotional material requests.

  • Support the Field Sales Manager with weekly sales reporting.

  • Execute department mailings and assist the Retail Marketing team with title mailings.

  • Manage, update, and execute quarterly reviews of the HarperCollins bookseller database.

  • Aid in designing, building, and distributing monthly newsletters.

  • Assist the Director of Retail Marketing with seasonal galley management.

  • Assist with HarperCollins author events internal processes.

  • Provide support for all conferences, including but not limited to Independent Bookstore Regionals, ABA Institutes, and consumer conferences.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional communication skills and be able to work both independently and in a team setting.

  • Superb organizational skills and ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

  • Strong and proactive follow-up skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, ever-changing environment.

  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, OneDrive and Canva.

Ideal Experience:

  • 1-3 years publishing or equivalent experience.

  • 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience

  • Bookselling experience a plus!

The salary range for this position is $48,500. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
