RWS Entertainment Group Senior Accountant in New York, New York

RWS Entertainment Group is looking for a dynamic and motivated Senior Accountant to join our team! Reporting to the Director of Accounting, this critical role will be responsible for full cycle procure to pay (A/P) and order to cash (A/R) cycles, assist with month end procedures such as journal entries, fixed asset recordings and depreciations, and account reconciliations.

Salary : $75,000-$80,000

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Own the order to cash cycle (accounts receivable and customer invoicing process), in a project-based sales environment, working with some of the largest cruise line, theme park, and resort companies in the world.

  • Review customer contracts and process all billings to ensure that clients are invoiced timely and accurately, that cash is collected at the earliest possible point, and that revenue is recognized properly in accordance with ASC 606

  • Execute the full-cycle A/P process with the company’s A/P automation system (currently Bill.com), which includes capture and review of vendor invoices for dollar accuracy, proper account, project coding and approvals in place, as well as weekly and off-cycle payment runs.

  • Maintain client and vendor related records in the NetSuite to ensure easy retracing.

  • Analyze AP and AR results and provide proper explanations and insights as part of month-end and quarter-end close processes.

  • Maintain strong customer relationships by responding timely to all internal and external parties and resolve any inquiries or payment issues in a timely manner.  Communicate proactively and professionally to all stakeholders.

  • Proactively challenge existing processes and identify where further efficiencies are needed and assist with execution of process and system improvements.

  • Support the year-end financial audit and quarterly review processes, actively working with internal Finance colleagues and external auditors.

  • Assist in reviewing and supporting the design and documentation of effective internal controls related to financial reporting.

  • Assist with periodic GL account reconciliations and other duties as assigned to support the Accounting Department

  • Responsible for annual vendor 1099 filings

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field

  • 4+ years’ accounting work experience

  • Solid understanding of ASC 606 and working knowledge of US GAAP

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Revenue accounting and month-end close process experience

  • Exceptional organization and execution/follow-up skills

  • Self-motivated with a solid work ethic and proactive communication skills eager to learn and grow with the company into more challenging responsibilities over time.

  • Experience with accounting software such as NetSuite, as well as AP and expense reporting automation applications such as Bill.com and Concur

  • Ability to effectively work with many different teams across the organization.

  • Strong Excel skills and proficiency

  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong attention to detail with a dedication to accuracy and timelines

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Hybrid - Long Island City, NY

    Estimated Start Date: ASAP

    Reports to: Director, Accounting

    Status: Hybrid on the East Coast

  • Hybrid (in NY/NJ/CT Metro Area): Team members who are pre-approved to regularly perform their job responsibilities remotely up to two (2) days per week, with three (3) days per week operating out of the RWS New York City headquarters.

    Salary :  $80,000 annually
