Forrester's Senior Analyst conducts innovative research and delivers advice through written reports, consulting guidance sessions, webinars, podcasts, and speeches. As part of our B2B content strategy and operations research team, this individual writes research to help key stakeholders successfully strategize their firms' content, combining qualitative and quantitative customer and market data, insights, models, frameworks, and best practices.
Success in this position entails writing for, presenting to, and advising about Forrester's content strategy and operations research. Our ideal candidate is a seasoned, creative problem-solver with B2B content expertise and a strong interest in solving highly complex challenges.Job Description:
Help define the future of B2B content strategy and operations in the enterprise. Focus on how content supports the customer experience. Demonstrate a deep understanding of content stakeholders and the content lifecycle, from planning and production, to promotion and performance. Key supporting pillars include development, audience-centric content marketing, content management including content audits, asset management best practices (taxonomy and metadata), translation and localization, content management and analytics and reporting, content localization, and content.
Understand and assess the content technology landscape, with rationalization across channels, touchpoints, and business functions.
Collaborate with senior and principal analysts within and outside our team to support customers with their content-oriented initiatives.
Develop a deep understanding of what Forrester clients need to succeed across the B2B content landscape.
Research into key aspects of the responsibilities of content strategy and operations leaders and practitioners, including sourcing and vendor management strategies, trends, and best practices on how to apply content technologies to drive business outcomes.
Interact directly with clients (on the telephone, in writing, and in person) to discuss their needs; review research findings; and provide recommendations on how to set strategy, optimize infrastructure, and solve content-related issues, leveraging Forrester models, frameworks, benchmark insights, and other research innovation. Review and provide input on client work product such as content assets, planning documents, and presentations.
Write several long and short research documents every year that convey new ideas. Introduce new thinking about successful strategies and best/next practices; 2) present strategic maturity assessments, new models or frameworks, and improvement roadmaps; 3) compare new technologies or services and their potential to help clients solve their business challenges (e.g., via a Forrester Wave evaluation); and 4) identify best practices for clients to model or adopt.
Collaborate with experts in different focus areas from across Forrester's roles and geographic teams to develop a complete context for these innovations. Provide input to their research reports and write reports incorporating their expertise to provide a big-picture view and an aligned set of recommendations.
Support consulting engagements as a subject matter expert to help clients apply Forrester's research to their specific business environments.
Help clients solve their problems and drive change through guidance sessions, advisory, and project consulting.
Present at Forrester-sponsored and industry-related events and deliver Forrester and client webinars and podcasts.
Establish an industry presence as an influential speaker and thinker; build relationships with senior B2B marketing, sales, and product professionals and with the technology vendors that serve them; and participate in relevant vendor briefings and field press inquiries.
Support team members in research collaboration, idea development, and higher-order strategic thinking.
Embrace social tools and build a market presence via social media.
Support sales in client development discussions, proof-of-concept sales calls, and retention strategies.Job Requirements:
Academic excellence; a BA or BS degree as a minimum; MBA or MS is preferred.
At least seven to 10 years' content strategy or content operations experience on the client, vendor, or consulting side, with proven positive business impact from past experiences. Solid track record of exceeding work expectations and improving organization workflow by driving awareness, alignment, and execution.
Deep technical knowledge of content operations technologies and a critical understanding of their capabilities and limitations.
Sense of work autonomy and team collaboration.
Strong business instincts and a practical understanding of what makes companies tick. A creative, analytical view of markets, technologies, and attitudes combined with a fascination with the future.
Superior listening, critical thinking, and writing skills. The ability to take complex, disparate ideas and distill them into simple, bold concepts - and the willingness to take a stand on vendors and outcomes through memorable presentation.
