The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director of international and MS Career Management, within the School's Career Management Center (CM), the Senior Associate Director of MS Career Management will drive overall career education programming, student advising, and administration for three specialized Master of Science (MS) programs and will also collaborate with CMC team members to support them.

This individual will serve as the primary liaison to MS Financial Economics, Accounting & Fundamental Analysis, and Marketing Science students and will initiate projects that improve communication with and enhance career programs for them. The Senior Associate Director will support business development effort by engaging with recruiters and external constituents about the MS student population, playing a key role in sourcing new employer relationships in partnership with the Employer Relations team and the faculty directors of each MS program. Given the current highly international MS talent pool, the Senior Associate Director will seek to identify areas where programming and content for MS students may dovetail with that for international MBAs.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage career education and advising resources for the MS student population. Partner with Career Education and Advising colleagues to provide individual and group advising and career workshops for MS students. Prepare presentation/program materials, including PowerPoint slides and other collateral while adapting content and formats to improve engagement and impact. Manage student participation in various programs and overall MS resource utilization and employment statistics.
  • Oversee comprehensive online MS Careers course curriculum on Canvas in collaboration with MS CM team members, from the pre-matriculation rollout of foundational career education modules to developing and refining content throughout the year.
  • Along with Executive Director, consult with MS faculty and program administrators to ensure cohesive delivery of career resources as part of overall MS programs administration, while identifying ways to achieve timely and robust employment reporting. In cases of expansion or changes to MS program offerings, partner with Executive Director and specific faculty administrator of new program(s) to ascertain student profiles, potential target employers/roles and where additional resources or programming may be required for advising or business development.
  • Collaborate with all members of the CM team on program/event development and corporate outreach on behalf MS students. Support program and event execution including market facing career events, workshops, webinars, panels, and speaker series, advising groups, and recruiting-related programs. Attend and participate in the delivery of events in consultation with Executive Director and other CM team members.
  • Manage and execute internal communications and marketing, including program and event promotion, registration, online information, and materials distribution. Oversee development and production of MS student newsletters in collaboration with communications-focused CM colleagues. Supervise maintenance and modification of MS student career websites, ensuring data and career materials are revised and updated in a timely manner.
  • Develop external business development strategy for MS populations, in collaboration with Executive Director, the CM Employer Relations team, and faculty directors to source and cultivate MS-specific employer relationships at CBS. Work to create the strategic vision and approach to effectively leverage faculty, alumni, and existing recruiter relationships. Crafts creative outreach initiatives, maintaining contact databases and email marketing programs. Edit collateral, newsletters, and promotional pieces for employer-facing marketing campaigns.
  • Independently work to cultivate relationships with MS Programs alumni to source potential panelists for industry sector and function area educational sessions for current students, while leveraging engagement for business development referrals to employers for internship or full-time opportunities.
  • Manage and/or support projects including, but not limited to, production of MS resume books/databases, administration of on-campus recruiting qualification process, online data updates and migrations for MS students, coordination of departmental calendar and resource procurement, and general ad hoc administrative tasks.
  • Lead the ongoing competitive benchmarking process and reporting for specialized MS programs and the extent of marketplace demand for them. Partner with Executive Director to collaborate with peer school and cross-campus MS advisors as appropriate to also align with best practices for MS career resource delivery.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with MS students, the broader CM team, MS program administration, Admissions, and other relevant University departments to facilitate integration of the CM program with overall MS offerings. Partner with Senior Associate Director, International to find common cross-cultural communication needs of both MBA and MS students and support resulting program initiatives.
  • Assist in ongoing CM strategic and operational support with full-time MBA and Experienced Professionals Career Management team, as needed, including planning sessions, workshop delivery, and support of on-campus recruiting process in fall and spring.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required. Minimum 4-6 years of related experience required. Relevant specialized Master's degree in higher education, counseling, or a highly analytical discipline preferred.

  • Program/project management skills and relationship development/management experience are required, with a proven ability to excel in a high-volume environment. Should have knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint. Strong professional demeanor and tact with a customer service orientation and ability to deal with a range of personality styles necessary. Ability to balance independent delivery of work with strong teamwork/collaborative orientation. Must be proactive and a self-starter able to manage difficult situations with firmness and diplomacy. Strong written and oral communication acumen imperative, including presentation skills. Ability to work early mornings on a seasonal basis and some evenings; some limited travel may be necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Workshop facilitation and prior Master-level advising experience highly preferred. Experience living outside the US and working with or teaching non-native English speakers is highly desirable., as is experience with business environments and communication with executive-level professionals. Prior direct professional experience in a highly analytical and/or quantitative role in financial services or marketing is a major asset.
