KPMG is currently seeking a Tax Senior Associate to join our Accounting Methods and Credit Services (https://tax.kpmg.us/services/accounting-methods-credits.html) practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct interviews and collect data from computer science subject matter experts, including engineers and technical specialists, accounting, and finance personnel to discover information that represents research and development activities

  • Understand different software development methodologies, Object Oriented & RDBMS design concepts and software design patterns and train peers on the technical nuances of software development

  • Analyze technical documents (technical papers, business and functional requirements documents, test logs and other materials) provided by clients to ascertain and document tax treatment of items

  • Conduct on-site fieldwork and review of activities and costs translate technical software development activities into tax definitions for qualified research and development

  • Organize documentation and create work paper files, prepare client reports and deliverables

  • Work with a group of engineers to develop operational solutions for a service industry practice

  • Support the implementation of firmwide digitization and automation efforts by developing Data Analytics tools and programs.

  • Must be interested in science & technology, and leading edge research & development projects

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, Computer Science or MIS degree a plus.

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, C, C++, C#, Visual Basic, or similar, working knowledge of SQL, database concepts, common software design patterns, data structures and algorithms. Knowledge of common computer infrastructure concepts, web-based or n-tiered architectures, performance tuning of databases and middleware is strongly preferred.

  • Experience documenting software development projects and developing web based real time data collection applications, data management or analytics software development is preferred

  • Ability to travel 30%-50% percent
