Responsibilities

This position can be based in any one of the following locations: Boston, MA; Burlington, MA; New York, NY; or Washington, DC

You will have responsibility for client management, solution implementation, and development of project results. You will own project workstreams and interact with the client daily to ensure engagement success. This includes supporting/leading day-to-day internal team meetings and coordinating/facilitating meetings with clients and their stakeholders. You will be expected to prepare and communicate well-organized, effective reports and presentations to client and internal executives. You will lead, coach, and mentor others on the team to ensure quality analysis and deliverables.

Members of our team work with clients involved in a wide range of energy-related activities, particularly in the field of distributed energy resource (DER) strategies including energy efficiency, renewable energy, and demand management. You will perform a wide range of activities including program evaluation, program and policy planning, and market and technology assessments. This includes involvement and interaction with utility companies, program implementers, government agencies, industry representatives, trade organizations, end-use customers, and efficiency advocates.

We are looking for someone with a passion for creative problem solving, client service, and project management. Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Contributing to a small team responsible for directly supporting utility client’s energy efficiency and evaluation needs

  • Maintaining, and strengthening existing client relationships and workstreams

  • Developing and presenting research findings and recommended plans of action directly to clients

  • Performing technical and economic analyses; data collection; spreadsheet creation and management

  • Assessing energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies

  • Building energy modeling, energy efficient technology modeling; advanced experience with residential and commercial building energy simulation tools preferred (e.g. EnergyPlus, OpenStudio, BEopt).

  • Field performance measurement and data collection of building and industrial process energy systems

  • Providing detailed fact finding, research, and analysis on energy-related activities

  • Assessing technologies and analyzing technology trends

  • Developing technology strategies for utilities, government, and energy companies

  • Communicating solutions and new strategies to clients through reports and presentations

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in an engineering, business, environmental, science or related discipline AND 2-4 years of relevant industry/consulting experience; Or Masters degree in an engineering, business, environmental, science or related discipline AND 1-3 years of relevant industry or consulting experience utilizing building energy simulation tools

  • Must have experience directly working with EnergyPlus and other building energy simulation tools (excluding academic course work)

  • Documented experience leading small teams

  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency with data analytics

  • Ability to assume ownership of significant portions of tasks while collaborating with a close-knit team

  • Strong interest in business strategy, energy efficiency, and sustainability

  • An inquisitive nature and desire for continuous improvement

  • Superior interpersonal skills

  • Ability to collaborate as a part of team, as well as to work independently

  • Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously, prioritize and plan work activities while meeting respective deadlines. Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Highly developed organizational and management skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to travel as needed

    Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-4 Additional years of work experience

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint

  • Experience with R or other programming languages (e.g. Python)

  • Tireless attention to detail in all prior experience (academic and professional)

  • Experience developing and delivering presentations to executive audiences

  • Excellent at visualizing data, synthesizing insights, and storytelling with data

  • A history of successful, creative problem-solving

  • Excitement to explore the underlying cause of the observation/result
