Position Summary

The Faculty Recruitment and Communication Team’s mission is to hire top-tier scholar-practitioners who have distinguished themselves as exceptional educators, subject-matter experts, and industry leaders. We also oversee communication strategies to raise the visibility of faculty research, publications, presentations, and teaching accomplishments. Reporting to the Senior Director, Faculty Recruitment and Communication Strategy (Senior Director), the Senior Coordinator, Faculty Recruitment and Communications (Senior Coordinator) supports all faculty recruitment functions in the School of Professional Studies such as job postings and hiring for faculty positions. The Senior Coordinator helps manage the hiring/appointment process of all new faculty (full-time and part-time) and ensures that all administrative needs of recruitment in the Department of Faculty Affairs are delivered efficiently and effectively. In addition, will assist in the creation and management of the Faculty Communications strategy led by the Senior Director and in collaboration with the SPS Communications team and M.S. Program staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Senior Director with high-volume, faculty searches in advance of each semester (fall, spring, and summer) with sourcing, screening, and interviewing management; posts positions on Columbia's job sites and on appropriate advertising sources, schedules interviews, job talks, and committee meetings, and serves as one of the first points of contact for new faculty

  • Assists with development of recruitment strategies leveraging the applicant tracking and assessment platforms; tracks candidates and shares applications with program hiring managers; contact new faculty to collect required information and paperwork; onboards new hires and provides guidance with the paperwork process; creates and maintains all records, including employee records; creates appointment letters for faculty before the start of each term

  • Updates and maintains annual pipeline lists; works with the finance team to process reimbursement requests and provides administrative support responds to faculty inquiries regarding onboarding documents, salary, and Columbia UNI/email, and ID cards; maintains discretion and professionalism while dealing with highly confidential information

  • Assists Senior Director with the development, management and execution of faculty communications efforts developed collaboratively with program staff, faculty, and SPS communications team

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned or requested

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent related experience required

  • 2 years related experience

  • A resume and cover letter with salary requirements must be submitted for the applicant to be considered for the position

Other Requirements

  • Experience in faculty affairs, human resources, web and social media communications skills or related fields required

  • Must have a strong service oriented attitude and excellent interpersonal skills

  • Must be well organized, and have exceptional written and oral communication skills

  • Familiarity with computer accounting systems, Smart Recruiters or other applicant tracking platforms, Hootsuite, Photoshop, Canvas, and PC based software packages are essential

  • Strong knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required
