35-hour work week, Monday through Friday
Flexible. In-person attendance is expected during our annual, weeklong all-staff summit. Additionally, participation for in-person meetings is expected at least once per year for most employees, and at least once per quarter for senior leaders.
$110,000 - $140,000 (this range is for the NYC area and will be adjusted for other localities; additionally, factors like skills and experience will be considered).

Candid supplies the most reliable, comprehensive data on the social sector. We actively collect data on nonprofit and funder data from many sources to make data on philanthropy accessible to nonprofits, foundations, technology providers, researchers and more. The Senior Data Quality Manager will play a leading role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, timeliness and reliability of this data so that it is "fit for purpose." Working closely with cross-functional teams across the organization, they will develop and implement data quality standards, processes, and procedures to continuously monitor and improve the overall quality of our data.
- Develop and implement a data quality strategy aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
- Establish data quality frameworks, policies, and standards with input from teams across Candid.
- Collaborate with key teams - such as products, research, and customer success - to define and prioritize data quality metrics.
- Conduct regular assessments of data quality and establish systems to enable the early detection of issues and to ensure that data quality expectations are consistently met.
- Work with others to identify and implement needed improvements to data collection, enhancement, or storage processes, or to put in place preventive measures.
- Regularly report on data analysis findings, highlighting data quality trends, issues, and improvements-including delivering presentations to senior leadership and staff.
- Ensure a high level of data quality awareness among internal consumers of Candid's data to inform product and research decisions.
- Participate in Candid's data governance group, and lead discussions as needed.
- Lead the development of internal dashboards and reports to facilitate communication and alignment around progress on key data quality metrics.
- Serve as a resource and point person to Candid staff and/or external stakeholders that have questions or feedback about the quality of Candid's data.
- Contribute to data documentation.
- Train staff on data quality standards and best practices.
- Become a subject matter expert in Candid's data.
- College degree strongly preferred in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or related field. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in related positions working on data quality, including lead experience.
- Understanding of data management principles at the enterprise level, including data governance, data architecture, and all phases of the data lifecycle.
- Extensive knowledge of data quality tools and techniques used to detect, monitor, and improve data quality issues.
- Proficiency in programming languages, including SQL and Python or R, to query and analyze data.
- Data visualization skills using tools like Tableau or similar to create dashboards featuring data quality metrics.
- Experience in developing and implementing data governance policies, processes and standards.
- Knowledge of the philanthropic/nonprofit sector strongly preferred.
- Independent with a high level of initiative and ownership.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to effectively communicate about complex or technical issues with non-technical audiences.
- Enthusiastic collaborator with strong interpersonal skills. Able to maintain good relationships across functional teams, to facilitate joint decision making, and to align and motivate others to achieve shared objectives.
- Exceptionally detail-oriented, with strong organizational, analytical, critical thinking, and leadership skills.
- Able to manage multiple (and potentially competing) priorities and make well-considered but timely decisions.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) a plus.
- Willingness to perform other duties and special projects as needed/requested.
